Round fourteen saw the Ainslie boys head out to Greenway Oval for the second time in three weeks to take on the young Hawks. After coming off a great team win against Queanbeyan last week and finals fast approaching it was important for the fella’s to bring home the four points and take another step closer to September action.
The Tri-Colours jumped out of the blocks fast with a 6 goal to 1 first term and looked on top with some great passages of football. Once again captain Billy Neely leading from the front getting plenty of footy and big Anthony Bourke roaming around the forward line looking very dangerous and very Jonathon Brown like. Coming in at quarter time six goals up one could only remember back just two weeks ago when Ainslie were up 6 goals only to be over run by the young Hawks.
The lead then further stretched out to 14 goals at the main break with Marcus Crook back from injury booting a couple as well as Holmes, Hughes, Neely and Bourke chiming in with a couple of majors. With the sting of the game gone the half time break couldn’t come quick enough for Tuggeranong.
After the main break the Tri-colours outscored the Hawks by 3 goals but it was too late for the young Hawks who ended up going down by 109 points as the Ainslie boys march on to a massive game against the Sydney Swans at Ainslie this weekend. Sydney after coming off a loss to Eastlake will be a great test for the boys heading towards September.
Best players were Billy Neely, Tony Bourke, David Love, Marcus Crook, Tom Daniel and Eric Stone.
