Thirds Match Report – Round 08 V Harman
Report
Late
withdrawals through injuries and illness left us with barely a team to
put on the field. We scraped together a side that included injured
players that couldn’t run as well as guys that were playing only there
second or third game of footy. It was going to be a long day at the
office.
The
boys in the backline were under the pump from the word go and worked
extremely hard to hold out the relentless attack. The boys worked
thingsout pretty well and actually made some good decisions, running
the ball out of defence.
Things
broke down across the centre and half forward. Harman’s bigger bodies
and experience showed as they took possession at will and pumped the
ball back into their attacking zone. It was just a matter of time before the backline were worn out. To their
credit they busted a gut all day.
By
three quarter time we had no fit players on the bench and at least
three walking wounded on the field. Ironically it was at this point
that we were the most competitive.
Summary
Another
belting at the hands of a well drilled opponent. We showed some great
patches of play and in the third quarter we actually controlled the
footy for most of the term. Harman scoring only one goal up to the
twenty minute mark. Then we allowed them five goals in as many minutes,
which was very disappointing. The overall effort was good and we never stopped trying.
Best Players : Tom Morey, Dave Stewart, Tim Jehu, Damien Eddy, Drew Alsford, Cal Mouncey were among our better players on the day.
