For the 1st quarter and taking into consideration that Queanbeyan had the advantage of two to three goal breeze; this was a great qtr for us with everyone working hard as a team with solid work in the stoppages and the one on ones. There was some very good tackling and we maintained reasonably good pressure on our opposition.
The 2nd qtr was very disappointing after such a good start, Queanbeyan upped the ante and we just rolled over, there was no pressure, applied and we started chasing kicks again instead of playing football. There were only two and a half tackles for the whole qtr. We had the advantage of the wind, but for some reason we went back to a short game, trying to pinpoint targets, resulting in easy turnovers to Queanbeyan and we recorded one ISF for the qtr.
The challenge for the 3rd qtr was to try and achieve 25 tackles, we did not get as close as we would have liked, but we managed to slow them down with our work rate gradually lifting as the qtr progressed. For the last 10 minutes we were holding our own again, but could not make an impression on the scoreboard.
For the 4th qtr we maintained our resolve and finally ran out a last qtr to the siren. It might not have been a great spectacle, but it was a very good qtr for us with equal CBs and nearly equal ISFs with Queanbeyan, and we made a good contest of the stoppages and around the ground, but once again lack of composure coming down the ground and entering ISF hurt us. On a whole there were some very positive signs from the boys.
