Leichhardt Seniors

The Leichhardt Soccer Club was founded in 1975 by a small group of Italian - Australians. The club was originally named "Azzurri Leichhardt" being the Azzurri Blue of the Italian National Team and our own Federal Electorate of Leichhardt.

Leichhardt first entered the senior competition in 1976 (1st Division and Reserve Grade) and fielded it's first Junior team (Under 10's) in 1977. With the addition of more and more teams to the junior competition and the acquisition of council land at Jeff Pezzutti Park at Woree, the junior club broke away to become self governing in 1980 (Leichhardt Junior Soccer Club)

The Senior Club underwent several minor name changes over the years before adopting the "football" tag in 2013 to become the Leichhardt Football Club Cairns.

The Senior Club is located at Johnson Road at White Rock on 1.84 hecatares of land incorporating a full field under lights, training field, carpark and double storey clubhouse.

The club fields 6 senior teams in the local competition (Mens Premier, Reserve Grade, Under 18, Under 16, Ladies Premier and Second Division) as well as providing training and match facilities to the local Hmong community who play under the banner of the Forest Garden Wolves. Competitive players in the 12 to 16 year age group are currently registered under the Seniors banner but remain based at Windarra St and play their fixtures at Endeavour Park.

The club was highly successfull during the 70's,80's and 90's and boasts many Premierships and Grand Finals as well as Northern League Club Champions and Crad Evans winners on numerous occasions.
