AFL North East Border is the governing body for Australian rules football in the Region and affiliated to AFL Victoria Country. Established in 2013, the 9 person independent Commission is one of 8 governing bodies established across Regional Victoria to manage the game locally, providing local solutions for local issues. Commissioners were identified for their professional skills set, previous experience in a sporting environment and understanding of regional and rural community.
Operationally, the cornerstone to the Commissions function is the Regional Administration Centre situated in Wodonga at 6/2 Romet Road Wodonga and the WSDC at the Wangaratta Showgrounds. Know as a RAC, the administrative operations of AFLNEB includes League management, Game and Club Development and Umpiring Departments. The RAC is vital to the management and development of the game with all departments working in collaboration. The scope of responsibility for AFLNEB includes over 60 clubs in 7 leagues and it's Regional Umpiring Department across 11 Local Government Areas.

With over 10,000 participants in competition, schools and promotional programs within the region, Australian Rules Football plays a critical role in the local economy, the health and well-being of local communities as well as providing important leadership and life skills to young men and women.
