Edna Armstrong first came to Yeoman in 1983 when her husband, Andrew, began playing with the club. In the ensuing years she had stints in the canteen and as a general worker.
When Andrew returned to the club as a committeeman in 2013, Edna began her latest bout of years of dedicated service to the club in various ways – as Secretary, Match Manager, guernsey washer, general roustabout, interchange steward, keeper of records etc. This list doesn’t give anywhere near a full picture of Edna’s value to the club nor of the hours and hours she has worked for its benefit. It is widely recognised around the club that Edna has done more for Yeoman in her years than most would do in twice the time.
Edna is also respected in the wider football community. During the absence of the DFA Registrar in July this year, it was to Edna that the DFA turned to serve all the clubs and the Association for the time needed. This was recognition of her capacity, loyalty and trustworthiness.
We believe Edna has more than fulfilled the criteria for election as a Life Member of the Yeoman Football Club and we have no doubt that such an achievement would be met with loud acclaim throughout the club.
