Peter Wynwood signed with Yeoman Football Club in 1974, joining his brothers, Russell and Tom. He has been ever since at the heart of this family club.
Peter ended up playing 552 games, making him the Club record-holder. He was a member of the Seniors premiership team in 1978, won the Elliott Medal in 1990 and coached the Reserves in 1983, 1984 and 1985. He would have been a member of a second premiership team but missed out on playing in the successful Grand Final of 1993 after picking up an injury in the Preliminary Final. He was a member of the Reserves Premiership teams in 1996 and 1997. He was the original coach of the Yeoman Women’s team.
In recent years, Peter has volunteered as an umpire and is now approaching 100 games. His expertise and experience have seen him called upon to umpire senior DFA matches.
He has served on the Committee for decades. Many of the oldtimers can remember Peter in his role as Membership Officer in the 1970s and 1980s pestering people until they succumbed to his requests! He served as President in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Peter was named Best Clubman in 2005, 2010 and 2011.
He is a member of the Platinum Club which has been working for years to support Yeoman financially through such activities as woodchopping.
Peter Wynwood is an outstanding candidate for election as a Yeoman Legend of Loyalty.
