TABLE CAPE ASSOCIATION - THE FINAL MATCH - YEOMAN PREMIERS
The roster of the Table Cape Association was concluded on Saturday, when Yeoman, the minor premiers, met Somerset. The result was a win for Yeoman, who are premiers for the season.
Both teams were at full strength. The weather was ideal and playing conditions good. A keen contest was expected and during the first half of the game expectations were fully realised. Both teams were all out and play at times was very interesting, marking and passing on both sides being good.
At half-time there was little to choose between the two teams, the scores being:- Yeoman 3.4, Somerset 2.5.
Resuming, Yeoman began a vigorous attack which lasted for two-thirds of the term, and gradually drew well away from the Somerset lads, who had completely lost their dash. During the remainder of the game Yeoman did pretty much as well as they liked.
The final scores were:-
Yeoman 7.14 (56)
Somerset 3.9 (27)
For the winners, Hyland (2), Franks, C Sheppard, Redman, Pegus and Gale all rendered excellent service and several others were close up. For Somerset, A Bramich played a brilliant game and received good support from Ward, Cross (2), Bramich, Brumby (2) and Gardam.
W Sharp had control of the game and kept it well in hand.
