Pines Club Notes.
Round 11. Mt Eliza v Pines. 9 July 2011.
Sensible controlled game by our Seniors last week in defeating EA by 4 goals and our finals chances are now growing brighter. Reserves rallied under the Conno-Willo games plan and knocked off EA by 2 gls. Rick Ramsdale was big up front and booted 6. Nice to see players shaking hands and chatting after this match which had been a rather tough game for all. Thanks Ted for loaning us EA thirds lads including your Josh Kovarick who kicked 3 goals for us. Well done to young 16 yo Rhys Chalkley who got to play his first senior game in Rd 9 v Chelsea. Rhys played in only his first Thirds game in Rd 3 and has also played in the reserves. Rhys’ dad is our cricket club president of who of us that wield their willow will well know and Rhys’ uncle Darren played 70 club games mainly as a wily fullback in our reserves during the 80’s. His grandfather Geoff was a hardworking trainer for us during those times. Barrie seeks it to be known that our cricket club AGM is on 18 July, 7.30pm. New players are welcome. Contact Barrie on 0409 018794. It’s great to see the family lineages continuing at Pines and other current listed players with past player family ties are S.Bishop, J.Edwards, J&L.Houldcroft, G.Martin, J.McClelland, A.McPherson, D.Tedge, N.Swanborough. Today we are at Mornington playing Mt Eliza who at this stage of the season do not have a home ground to play on. We at Pines have been through this turmoil, trouble and torment and so we wish you good tidings in getting back to your own home base. Happy birthday this week to our secretary Leanne and although I was beseeched by her lady friends to reveal her age I’ll not do so being the gentleman that I am.
