Pines Club Notes. Round 12. Seaford v Pines. 16 July 2011.
Seniors with a 10 goal percentage booster win over Mt Eliza last week now sees them in the five. Curcio, Messina and White were elusive adding 3 goals each. Seaford at Seaford today will need for you to raise your efforts though. Let’s make it a good one for Adam Maling who today plays his 100th club game. Reserves were victors by 17 goals; Ramma booted 7 and Harley Parker was slick with 5. The team is sharpening its fangs as it has a good chance of finals again and can Ramma be MPNFL Reserves LGK this year as was Reegan Stubbs last year with 57. He’s working on it. Thirds supplied another 6 goals score but although beaten gave their best. The cryptical last line in the latest Pines Past Players newsletter states- ‘come down and meet Blake the 6ft 10 inch ruckman’. I had never heard of him!! Then last Sat, there he was out there for us, the whole 280cm of him and he played well too. He will certainly take the burden of the ruck work off our younger players. Let’s hope that certain paperwork is cleared up and that he is out there today. The tallest player that I can recall at Pines was Steve Newman, 201cm back in the mid 80’s. That newsletter invites all members of our Past Player Group to gather in our rooms from noon ‘til 3pm next week v Bonbeach. Entertainment will be-‘pin the tail on the possum’. There will be free refreshments and grouse finger lickin’ food. Recently received a nice email from a Kevin Taylor who played in our undefeated Fourths prem team in 1970. He commended us on our great website and the fantastic history pages seen there. Good to see that our past people are out there following us. You appreciate the superb work done on our website by Adele and Ralph when you look for the same at some other clubs and find nothing. Keep up the good work guys. Please note-certain details seen in this column were as known at time of going to print and maybe subject to alteration.
