Pines Club Notes. Round 7.
Pines v Mornington. 11 June 2011.
Why oh why did we have only 13 Pines lads turn up to play in our Thirds last week when in the previous game we had 20 out there. This situ must be addressed. Thanks YC for allowing us players so the game could be played. As to my Funk & Wagnell dictionary, a python is a reptile that crushes it’s prey to death before swallowing it. The only thing that got crushed and swallowed last Sat was us, when we were buzzed by a swarm of YCW bumblebees who were basically double or more than our score all day. Didn’t our old style jumpers look great though. Today we hope to strangle/crush (select form of victory) Mornington as we host them for our 62nd meet since 1984. Your scribe has been informed by his change room ghost whisperer that some person has moaned that there is too much club history seen in this column and that it is boring. Pretty good bet that this person has been no-where near our history pages available on our website. Well done to Adele the Adorable and Ralph the Reliable for their work on keeping the site flowing. The whole idea of showing the deeds of our past is not only to bring back archival details for all to read but also hopefully be an inspiration to those within in our club now. Anthony ‘Crash’ Craddock could be back today after a few weeks rest after falling to earth with his mark of the year. The nickname was first coined in this column a couple of years ago and is a recall of a rock and roll singer with the same name back in the 50’s. Who was our highest ever senior goal kicker v Mornington? That was Craig ‘Strop’ Neal with 12 in Rd 7, 1989. Our Mid Year Ball will be a Dinner Dance river boat cruise on the Yarra, 2 July. See Beau for details. Don’t forget to follow our netball details and notes also seen in your footy record. Would love to put something in this column each week for our girls but no details are being supplied in time.
