Pines Club Notes. Round 6.
YCW v Pines. 4 June 2011.
Important wins to our Snrs and Res v LWN but once again no joy for our Thirds although coach Jason Morse will be happy with the fact that he had 20 of our lads playing. Let’s hope that they are all getting to training. Today Jason plays his 100th club game after first playing in 2003 and has notched up 57 snr and 42 res games. It’s always a busy day for him each week when after coaching our Thirds he then plays in our Reserves. Well done Morsie. Well done also to young Rhys Chalkley who after playing in only his 3rd Thirds game was called to our Reserves for his first club game. Rhys becomes our 950th club player since 1964. His dad Barrie, our Cricket Club President, kept a watchful eye on him as he helped Glen Burns serve up those delicious Burnsy Burgers. Good to hear that young Nathaniel Swanborough, after copping a knock to the head in the Thirds game, was released from hospital observation on the same day but he will be out of action for a few weeks. This is a timely reminder for players to make sure that they have Ambulance insurance. Today, in our greatly loved original style jerseys, we venture to YCW for our 72nd meet with them of which is the most senior games that we have ever played against any club. Let’s make sure that our old colours are not put to shame. Tonight, at our rooms we have a Trivia Nite and there just may be some seats left if you want to join in on the fun. Our Mid Year Ball will be a Dinner Dance river boat cruise on the Yarra, 2 July. See Beau for details if you haven’t yet booked. If Gordo asks for a coffee I hope that they serve him with the ordinary, normal, straight out of the jar type. Ask him about it. Noticed that some clubs are wearing round neck jumpers. Looks neat but you wouldn’t want to have it pulled too tight around your throat from behind. A quick plug here-Wanted-any old footy records especially pre 1987, for club and league info.
