Pines Club Notes. Round 10. Pines v Edi Asp. 2 July 2011.
That’s half of our fixtured season gone and the way things are going that may be just about all that there is for us. Once again our Seniors were well in it ‘til half time but then fell to a 10 goal loss v Chelsea last week. That loss gives us only four wins out of nine but then taking into account that teams have scraped into the last five for the season with only nine wins since the introduction of the final five in our division in 2009 there is still some chance for us. It’s all up to you. We are averaging 12 goals per game at the moment which is what we finished with at the end of last season and we have had an average of only 13 kicked against us so it’s a tight game in that dept. Reserves dipped out by only 2 goals against the fourth placed Gulls in a damn fine effort. Hayden Clancy in his 60th club game was smooth with four goals and today in that team we say well done to Jarrod Wade playing his 100th club game. Welcome today to Edi Asp and especially to their group of veterans who never miss a game. Comfy lounge chairs await you in our social rooms where you can have a nice cup of tea and be cosy and warm. Liked the comment recently in another clubs notes that even though it was an away game for them their supporters far outnumbered our people. I’ll go one better, I reckon that there were more Pines players here on that day than there were Pines supporters. What’s happened to the crowd in front of our rooms and the great characters that we once had. Classic tale from the past. A Pines player sought some advice from a certain Pines trainer stating “Hey BB, I’ve got a sore calf, what can I do about it.” BB replied “How would I know, I’m not a bloody Vet.” Here’s hoping that all cruising on the Yarra tonight have a good time although I’m not sure what time that the first train leaves for Frankston on Sunday morn. I’ll be just across the road in O’Connells Tavern.
