PINES CLUB NOTES. Round 9. Pines v Mornington. 14 June 2014
If any of you are still around in another 50 years please tell those future people that they have got a lot to beat if they are seeking to find a better night than what was enjoyed by all last Saturday. The 340 people there came from near and far, all with the sole purpose of happily enjoying the celebration of the 50 year life of our club. And what a night it was, it really was, such a night. Well done to the function organisers of whose patience, wit, common sense and mental stability got us to the night and through it. A big thank you to Frankston Council for their assistance at the Arts Centre including the Arts Centre worker (a certain Bonbeach player) who stated at stumps that we are the biggest and best behaved crowd that they have ever had. Bring on another 50 years, we’ll do it all again. Earlier that day at Regent Park, Edi Asp sent our Seniors off with a 24pt loss. An after game comment heard was-“we just lack that extra bit of class so as to finish off stronger in the last qtr”. This column finds that we have kicked an average of 20 last qtr pts while we have had an average of 34 kicked against us. We have been the better last qtr scorer in only 2 out of 8 games. Best; Beau & Guy Hendry and Matt Goodman. Can’t decipher the Reserves game scoreline (again) but we do see that Pines were snuffed out by 7pts. Shame to lose a close one, there hasn’t been too many of them. Best; Chris Guganovic, Jarrod Stewart and Jake Prosser. Jason Morse (son of Lea), in only his second game since 2011, kicked 3 of our 8 goals and let’s hope that Chris G. with another BOG here gets back to his normal Senior team duties soon. Our u16/18 lads could only manage 2 gls as the Eagles thirds went through the mechanics of methodically scoring 6 gls per qtr. Best; No details supplied. Happy birthday Saturday to ‘The Dude’ aka ‘Cowboy’. Now I know how old he is. The Last Bud.
