Pines Club Notes. Round 18. Pines v Chelsea. 27 Aug 2011.
Bulldozed at Bullum Park last week by 65 pts our Snrs must win today v third placed Chelsea if they want to play finals. Should it be that we do lose we need Lwn to defeat Sea, then we stay in. Which way do you want to play it? Reserves, now in the five, must also win today if they are to retain that place. The result of the Morn v EA game will have some say in that too. It’s going to be an interesting day. Shaun White’s total goals for the year? I have him on file with 41 after the last game followed by ‘Crash’ with 36. Final game for our Thirds and again all within our club thank you for your steadfastness this year. We look forward to better times for you next year. Thirds who made inroads into either Snr/Res were Rhys Chalkley, Sam Edwards, Troy Foord, Jon Hughes, Jack Read and Josh Thurwood. Well done men. Some weeks ago this column listed a number of 2011 players who have family heritage in that they have had a family member play with us in the past. Missed a couple of Thirds players, Sam Edwards and Damian Plane. Sam along with his brother ‘Jonno’ are the nephews of John Edwards (1976-78). Thanks to the Edwards family for your interest in that article. Damian is the nephew of Paul Plane (1978-91) and the cousin of Anthony (1997-03). Thank you netballers for your endeavours in this your first season and to those who stood forward to start the teams, better times next year. On this our last home game we say thank you to all our club workers. Too many to name but without our club/team officials, trainers, timekeepers, scoreboarders, gate/ground marshalls, canteen/bar persons and our loyal rooms superintendent the games literally could not be played. Once again thank you to all our sponsors and we look forward to seeing you back on board with us next season. Presentation night is on 30 Sept at Villa Adriana. See Adele for your compulsory ticket bookings. See you all next week or next year?
