Clubs merge in the senior levels to enter 4 cities league.

Maryborough West football club have put steps in place to provide the best football available for their members. With lower numbers of senior players this year and the introduction of the 4 cities league, we have approached both Tinana and Granville to form a 1^st division team to enter into the new league. Although in the early stages of development and with the full support of all clubs, our 1^st division team and our clubs future looks bright.

The development of this team and more importantly the opportunity presenting itself to the younger players, particularly the youth players which are coming through from all three clubs, will be a major bonus to the merge. The 1^st division team is to be coached by reputable coach Steve Bate. Steve has coached at a high level for some time. He coached at the QSL level with the Spirit youth until it demise with the introduction of the APL. Steve will bring a wealth of knowledge to all clubs involved and will coach at each club week about. This allows for the youth players and club coaches to be mentored on a continual basis.

A preseason trial game was held at Granville’s Canning Park on Saturday the 17^th of Feb. This was a success and gave Steve a good look at all players wanting to compete in the 1^st Division team.

West and Tinana will also merge for the 2^nd division and 3^rd division teams. This will enable us to field teams in both divisions in the Fraser Coast League.
