Womens

AC Carina FC are building their women’s soccer team. We would like to nominate a women’s football team in the Women’s City 5 League for the 2015 season. If you are interested in playing you need to be available to commence pre-season training in November, commit to a weekly training session and playing a match on the weekend.

THE SPIRIT OF BELLAS

Some people contemplating joining us might be concerned about not having any soccer experience or being unfit or whatever. It doesn’t matter as Bellas is 100% SOCIAL!

So it doesn’t matter if you’re UNcoordinated, UNfit or UNnaware of the rules of soccer!

We have a diverse group … some who have played before and some who had never kicked a soccer ball until they joined Bellas.

If you’re an EXPERIENCED player thinking of joining Bellas, that is great, but it’s important to remember to not get frustrated with anyone in the group, or you’ll be putting off the core group of Bellas.

There’s plenty of proper teams in the region for you to join if you want to play at a competitive level. But there is no other Bellas group equivalent in the area … i.e. a place where ANY female over 18 can play soccer without their skill/fitness level being of importance.

Some of the reasons our Bellas choose Bellas:
- Running around outside is far more enjoyable than staring at a treadmill!
- Stop-start cardio is very effective and we want to improve our fitness!
- The Bellas are lovely and friendly!
- Loving soccer!
- Disliking Zumba music & outfits!
- It’s a break from the kids!

So your mother or your grandmother can play!

Those without any experience are very welcome. To give you an idea – We’ve had Bellas forget which goal they are aiming for … we’ve had a netballer instinctively ‘catch’ the ball … and that is FUNNY … it’s NOT a problem … and sometimes we’ve lost track of what the score is!

Some of us enjoy trying to improve our soccer skills – and coach/ref Phil will enthusiastically give you tips … and will often give extra tips to the losing side or a player who wants advice to improve their skills.

If you’re an experienced player you can treat Bellas as a fitness and fun session to add to your training regime.

If you expect Bellas to be of a certain standard, to be taken very seriously … Bellas is NOT for you. Competitive soccer is great – but it’s just not what Bellas is about (take a look at the top of this page for how to join the competitive women’s soccer team).

If you want to get info on other local places to play competitively, some of the Bellas have good contacts for this, so just let us know.

Bella Bella Bella … Oi Oi Oi!
