MAGPIES PINK WEEKEND RESULTS
DONATIONS MADE TO
WYONG HOSPITAL DAY CANCER UNIT
&
DONNA CHARLTON
For 7 years the Wyong Lakes Magpies have been holding a Pink Weekend on the round coinciding with Mothers Day each May. The day provides the club with an opportunity to raise funds for a community member that may be battling cancer and for local services providing care to those undergoing cancer treatment.
Sadly, nearly every year someone associated with the club or a club member has been diagnosed with cancer. This year Donna Charlton, the mother of Wyong Lakes ruck man and Northern Power Cricket Club bowler Brendan Charlton, was that person.
As a result the club made Donna one of the beneficiaries of the weekend, which the other being the Wyong Hospital Day Cancer Unit which provides outpatient care to community members suffering cancer.
This year Pink Weekend was held on the 12th of May and over $1200 was raised on the two days.
On Thursday the 12th of July 2018, representatives of junior and seniors players form the club attended the Wyong Hospital and presented a cheque for $600 to the unit.
A similar amount was donated to Donna to assist in the costs associated with her treatment.
The club would particularly thank all our sponsors and supporters who donate so often to causes' close to the club.
Additionally, we would like to thank the many members of the Northern Power Cricket Club who turned up to show their support for Donna and Brendan.
