Good morning everyone,
As you are no doubt aware we have been battling with Council for many years, over 4 and half to be more accurate, to have our clubhouse rebuild. The project is fully funded by the insurance pay out and $200,000 in grant money we have worked hard to obtain, yet Council keeps dragging it's feet or simply not doing tasks required and the project keeps stalling. In the past week we have become aware that Wyong Historical Society and Museum had to hand back $46,000 in grant money due to Council stuffing them around and we don't want that to happen to us.
Over the past month or so the Committee has increased the pressure on Council including our online petition, meetings with Councillors and speaking to Executive level staff seeking answers. Some progress has been made but with the best indicator of future performance being past performance, I am not holding my breath.
As part of this increase pressure we have been able to secure an opportunity to address the Mayor and Councillors at a Residents Forum immediately before the Council Meeting on Monday the 27th of November at the Council Chambers in Hely Street, Wyong. We have just 5 minutes at 6.20pm to raise our concerns.
In support of this we would really like us to fill and overflow the public galley, which seats 99 people, with as many club members and supports as possible. If you are able to attend please wear a club shirt or other item to indicate your connection with the club.
Where: Wyong Council Chambers Hely Street, Wyong
When: Monday 27 November 2017 6.20pm.
Why: Keep pressure on Council to build our clubhouse.
Please be at the Council Chambers by 6.00pm to allow sufficient time to get a seat.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Kind regards
Simon Wood
President
Wyong Lakes AFC
