We held our 3rd Annual Pink Day in support of Cancer research and treatment on Saturday the 10th of May 2014. This year the club played in specially commissioned pink flame jumpers to mark the 1 year anniversary of our club house being razed to the ground by fire.
On Friday the 8th of August 2014, club President Simon Wood, Secretary John Griffey and Senior Coach Mitch Ede attended the Wyong Hospital Cancer Care Unit and were pleased to be able to hand over a cheque for $1000 to support the unit in their vital work. The Wyong Hospital Cancer Care Unit provides out patient services and treatment to cancer suffers in the Wyong Shire.
Nurse Nicky Cove said, “The money will come in very handy and will likely be used to buy items to make the patients time at the clinic as comfortable as possible.”
The visit and presentation gained even more meaning when it was discovered that former Wyong Lakes member Ossie galea was in the unit receiving treatment. The Committee and Members of the Club wish Ossie all the very best for a speady recovery.
