The sun was shining but it was another glum day for us on the footy front going down to Killarney Vale in all three grades.
The 18's were never in the hunt against our local rivals. The match was tight until the long break but whatever Killarney's coach said to them during the break had the desired effect. Killarney Vale kicked 12 goals in the second half to comfortably take the spoils over our undermanned side.
The First Division match followed a similar vein with our guys outgunned by a classier Killarney Vale outfit. The platform for their win was setup in the first half putting on nine goals while our guys struggled to score. They were too strong for us from the centre bounce with their smaller men taking it away with relative ease. To their credit the boys never gave up and those to standout in a disappointing overall performance were Beecroft (who again impressed in what was only his second game of Rules), Robb, McSpadden and Convey.
Killarney Vale were made to work hard for their victory in the Black Diamond Cup local derby with our guys taking it right up to the Bombers. The first half was an arm wrestle and the footy hard and physical. Unfortunately we didn't have a big target up forward and this hurt us on the scoreboard struggling to consolidate on the hard work done further up the field. The boys just need to have some belief in themselves and the wins will come. Nick Greentree was outstanding for us and was duly awarded the mug for BOG. Others to stand out were Gallagher, Berry, Lovell, Ede and Denniss.
The club would like to congratulate all players selected in their respective representative squads.
