The 18s kicked things off. Very impressive performance against good opposition. Sam Payne and Owen James were great with their dashing out of defence. Mitch Rawson must have motorised boots - he was everywhere. John Crace big and strong out of the middle and Jamie Cleaver in and out of the play. Harry Butchart and Jake Miosge were quick and elusive up forward. Then, Josh Avis comes into the game - great mark on the wing! Then he's in lots! Two new boys - Alex Everitt and Mitch Crawford also get into the play in their first games of footy. These kids/young men are our future and what an exciting future we have.
The Ressies are warming up. Not bad in a tricky wind. Good skills on display, especially for Ressies. Great to see Pat Handley, Cameron Niland and Jason Kavenagh back (although Jason's looking a bit 'chunky'). The Ressies are on their way and Travis Walls leaps high in the ruck, winning tap after tap to team mates and doing lots around the ground - he's everywhere - Best on Ground by a mile. Generals Woody and Jason Kavenagh organise the team and control the game from the middle - things are going like clockwork. Chris Anderson and Brendan Scanes have pace to burn up forward and they're getting pletny of the ball. With Hayden Kavenagh doing his usual polished things up forward, the boys are looking good. Could have been first grade with some of the good play. Must be cold for the backline - pretty quiet down there. Great win!
First grade are up, game's underway. Great play out of the centre and Courtney has four goals inside four minutes - great start! Anthony Reid looking good in the ruck - our new No 12. The boys are doing the hard things and supporting each other - great to see. Tom Hunt leading into the middle - handing off to our runners Stewie, Enright, Mitch Knight & co, then to Courtney or Marty - team's looking good. Last quarter and it's the Keast & Wheeler show - these guys are good! Keast to Wheeler in the middle, ball forward, goal - three times in succession. Then these two guys dominate the final quarter in the ruck and round the ground leading to a big win. Exciting stuff again - young team still (except Harro's out there) with plenty to learn and grow. Goal kicking practice this week boys and who knows what you can do!
Get behind Harro and the club's leaders and work towards another great year.
Go The Blues !!!!
