Newcastle City AFC was presented with the BDAFL 2007 Club Champions Shield at last nights BDAFL Medal Night at Newcastle Panthers. Newcastle City also picked up the Minor Premiership trophies in both the Black Diamond Cup and First Division Competitions.
In the respective medal counts Kris Wozniak and Mitch Rawson polled well in the Under 18's to finish in equal 6th with 13 votes, Scott Harrington finished in the leaders board after a great season in First Division and in the Black Diamond Cup Tim Cotter finished equal 5th with 13 votes, closely followed by Matthew Enright with 12 votes and Michael Kemp on 11. Courtney Knight was also presented with the inaugural Maurice Goolagong Medal for being the leading goalkicker in the BDAFL for 2007.
In the Coach of the Year Award it was Andrew Bubb from Warners Bay who took home the trophy and in their fourth successive win our comrades from the Gosford Tigers won the prestigious Website Award.
A memorable night for those in attendance with the Warners Bay lads certainly enjoying proceedings on their "Mad Monday".
Congratulations to Newcastle City's other award nominees, Josh Wheeler for Young Footballer of the Year and Lynne Webster for the Club person of the Year Award.
We now turn our attention to this Saturday's three big matches with City looking to create history with an even chance in all three Grand Final's.
