Newcastle City Australian Football Club are extremely pleased to report that Sunday's Benefit Day for Club member, sponsor and former player Edward "Groover" Cross has been extremely well attended with over 150 people turning up to help out Groover. More than $21,000 was raised in a day of fun and frivolity at the Cambridge Hotel.
The day was made possible with the assistance of Life Activities, Newcastle City Australian Football Club, the Cambridge Hotel, Pronto Photo Centre, The Bogey Hole Cafe, Frameworks by Lisa, Havta Havit and members of the 50 Kindest Companies.
With superb door prizes, photographs by Edward Cross, live bands and comedians and a Sports Memorabilia Auction the day was enjoyed by the large crowd in attendance.
Groover has promised he will be available to run the water on Grand Final Day which is great news and after completing the Lake Macquarie Half Marathon on Sunday morning I think we can be fairly confident of having the fittest water runner to ever pull on the white City shirt.
Thanks to everyone who has supported Groover over the past few months especially the other BDAFL Clubs who have been absolutely first rate. Everyone should be extremely proud of their efforts.
