City headed to Seaman Oval to take on the dogs in all three grades. The Under 18's were once again low on numbers but showed plenty of spirit in trying conditions and went down narrowly. The reserves maintained a steady lead all day and ran out winners and the Black Diamond Cup team had a superb win over the unbeaten Dogs holding them goalless for three quarters to win by 46-points.
In the First Division game Gordo was named players player in a good team effort with the players welcoming back captain Deedy. Coach Stubbsie is going to have some difficult decisions on his hands in weeks ahead with so many players performing all over the paddock.
The Black Diamond Cup team hasn't been too fond of the wet in recent years, and thought they would be up against it. The boys came out to play in the wet conditions and kept the dogs goalless for 3 quarters. Recruits Drew and Stewy thrived in the wet conditions, while Tom played a key role in the backline.
There were winners all over the ground with Stimpy, Mitch, Woody, Courtney and Burnsy handling the conditions particularly well. The win could have been even more impressive had the Blues not kicked a dissapointing one goal and ten behinds in the final quarter. A 46-point win was a pleasing result given the conditions on offer.
A happy City crowd headed to No.1 for Poker Night, Buckets came up trumps from Mitch who took great delight in knocking Phill out. Buckets contributed some of his winnings to the bar in a popular move (has he been taking True Blues advice?), whilst many players could not get over their misfortune. Fran flew the flag for the ladies getting through to the final table.
Thanks to Barb, Gerry, Janine, Katrina and Jen for manning the bar and providing all with a huge supper. This week we finally get on No. 1 and look forward to two Grand Final rematches against Cardiff. We got a big monkey off the back beating the dogs in the wet, hopefully this will be just what the boys need to get them in the right frame of mind to get one up on the Hawks.
Don't forget to get down to the ground early and support all grades, particularly the Under 18's who are improving all the time, but face a tough ask against a strong Cardiff side.
Thanks to Warners Bay for extending their Ladies Day hospitality to the City crowd, it was much appreciated. This Saturday it is City's turn to pay tribute to the Ladies who will no doubt make the most of the day.
In other news Fluffy will soon be departing our shores so stay tuned for a special TRUE BLUE tribute to the little bugger celebrating some of his finest moments and t-shirts.
