The Newcastle City Blues 2007 pre season preparations are starting to fire up with Senior Coach John Burns upping the intensity over the last few weeks. A number of new recruits have made their way down to Blues training over the summer months, and key losses have so far remained low in number.
Training has now re-located to Hawkins Oval on Monday and Wednesday nights, with an optional beach session being held at Merewether Baths from 6.00pm on Friday's.
Training has so far been varied in activity and intensity with Wednesday nights return run from Hawkins to Nobbies one of the more strenuous sessions so far in 07.
As mentioned a number of new recruits have been welcomed into the fold so far this year with more details to be posted on the website over the next few weeks.
Key losses so far include rangy ruckman Justin "Kelso" Kelly who has re-located to Adelaide, utility Marc "Hammer" Habermehl who has moved to Brisbane with Nancy and the new little Hammer and key backman, Mitch Niland who is spending the first few months travelling around Australia.
Our first hit-out for the year is scheduled for Saturday March 17th with a six-quarter practice match planned against the Sydney-based East Coast Eagles. The day will also act as our Season Launch and will include a junior football clinic in the morning and jumper presentation and player photos courtesy of Club Sponsor, Groover.
