Located in the Rutherford, the Maitland Saints Junior AFL Football Club continues to grow.
The club has continued to move from strength to strength over the last 5 years as the kids are given the opportunity to improve on their skills in fantastic conditions. We pride ourselves on the quality of coaching and our coaches ensure that each child is given utmost attention. We do not grade our junior teams ( U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 and Girls) to ensure that focus is on fun and participation rather than winning.
We are a family club with several social events during the year. We embrace AFL NSW's code of conduct to ensure that we minimise bad behaviour &/or poor sportsmanship.
Younger players play a modified game where tackling is minimised ensuring a safer game across varied skill levels. AFL is a winter sport with our season running from April until September.
Games are played on a Sunday mornings with the U17's playing mainly on Sundays with some Saturday and Friday night games. Training is on a Wednesday evening for the U9, U11, U13 and Under 17’s Tuesday & Wednesdsay, with U15’s and youth girls training on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon at Max Macmahon Oval in Rutherford.
Youth Girls competitions are female specific competitions aimed at introducing new players to AFL and continuing the pathway for females aged 13 to 18 years. NSW and the ACT have numerous Youth Girls Competitions.
2014 inaugural Youth Girls Competition commenced for girls 15 and under. The modified rules allow for new participants in the game with a key focus on development and fun. Contact us for more information
Our coaches are experienced previous players with specific training in AFL and working with children. So why not try AFL - once kids try it, they love it !!
