Last weekend was a big one on and off the field for the club as we celebrated our Centenary at Mangoplah Sportsground.
Hundreds of past and current players, coaches, officials, supporters and sponsors turned out on Saturday as we played Coolamon.
A great day was had by all who attended and the dinner at the Mangoplah Hall was also very well attended and was a great opportunity for the club to unite as one to celebrate 100 years of football.
We would like to thank Anna Davis and the Centenary Committee for the fantastic job they have done to organise last weekend’s event.
On the field we had some great success with two of our three football grades winning and all four of our netball teams tasting victory – this was a first for the club.
The first grade team battled hard all game before going down by 38 points with James Creasy (Mug), Jock Cornell, Hunter Lloyd and Trent Cohalan taking out awards on the day.
In reserve grade the boys scored a 64-point victory with Grant Bruce winning the Mug, Alex McCormack the Towel and James Scott the Coffee Club Voucher.
The under 17s continued its wonderful start to the season with a huge win with Brandon Sanbrook winning the Towel and Ash Carey the Don Tuckwell’s Audio Voucher.
In the netball circles C grade won with Nicole Burgess winning the Mug and Massage and Liz Wooden the towel.
B grade saluted as well with Sophie Anderson winning the Mug and Massage and Bridie O’Rourke the WLD Socks.
Georgia Hull won the Mug and Massage in A reserve grade’s win while Alex McRae took home the Ella Bache Voucher.
We won A grade with Gabe McRae winning the Mug and Massage and Brydee Clarke the Thomas Blamey Voucher.
The netball awards are proudly sponsored by Abbey Roberson (Massage), Dave Willis (Mugs), Tamara Harper (Elle Bache Voucher) and Peter Byrne (WLD Socks).
Today we travel to Leeton Showground to play Leeton-Whitton.
We would like to wish all teams and officials the best of luck and we invite everyone back to the Thomas Blamey for dinner, drinks and the awards following today’s game.
So Until…. Wardy gets some sleep, we celebrate another 100 years, Lawso trades the green shirt for blue and gold and the boys learn how to kick straight…Up The Plah!!!
