The following 2 messages are from BDAFA

Message 1

Hi all,

being that it is now week 3 of the competition and all coaches and managers should be registered and WWK checked.

All officials should have received their cards by now so as off this weekend all persons other than players that are in the technical area need to have a coach or manager card DISPLAYED around their neck.

If anyone is in the technical area without a card a ground marshal, BDAFA MC member or a referee will be asking this person to please go behind the rope.

Over the course of the next few weeks BDAFA MC will be in attendance at matches checking both players and officials registration cards.

Remember NO CARD NO PLAY.

Message 2

Hi all,

as discussed at the delegates meeting on Monday night, the referees have suggested that should a player have a medical condition that they wear a yellow sweat band and at the beginning of the game the coach can inform the referee that anyone wearing one has a medical condition. This is a great idea as if the player does go down (and it can be behind play so not all will see them) it will be known that they require assistance straight away.

It was discussed that BDAFA buy theses in bulk and distribute to clubs, but this is not possible as it is an unknown quantity that is required and impossible to gauge. It is something that a player should be able to purchase at very very little cost and also be something that they would wish to communicate to others on the field in the case of them needing assistance.

Your help with getting this message out to your players would be greatly appreciated.

Free First Aid Course run by Workers

Hi everyone

Last year RWFC applied for and were successful in being granted $2000 to run a sports first aid course.  This is the third grant for first aid training we have received. Sports Medicine Australia will conduct this year’s course.  The course is 8 hours over 3 nights. Participants are required to attend all 3 nights. The minimum age for participants is 14 years, and we are limited to 13 participants.  At this stage we will give priority to Coaches and Managers of any RWFC team, but I’ll also take a list of any senior players or Committee who may be keen to participate should insufficient coaches and managers check in.

Details as follows:

Dates: Tuesday 7th May, Tuesday 14th May and Tuesday 21st May

  •          Time: 7pm-9.45pm
  •          Venue: Revesby Workers FC Clubhouse

To help me with logistics, it would be appreciated if you could please register your interest with me by COB next Friday 12th April.  Any vacant spots will then be allocated to other Club members and/or our friends at St Christopher’s and Panania Clubs..

The course aims to provide participants with the practical skills and knowledge to prevent and manage injuries common in a sporting environment, and covers topics such as crisis management, including basic life support, immediate injury management, environmental issues, and the transport of the injured athlete.  It includes both theory and practical, and if the last 2 groups are anything to go by, it’s all done in a very fun and lively environment (with a yummy supper break each night!).  The trainer is professional and as he presented the last 2 courses he knows us well.  He also tailors the course specifically to our roles as coaches and managers of a sporting team (but what you learn will also be applicable to your home environment).

The course includes the nationally recognised unit of competence HLTFA301B Apply First Aid, incorporating ‘HLTCPR201A Perform CPR’ and ‘HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support’ and upon successful completion participants will receive the SMA Sports First Aid Accreditation, and a Statement of Attainment for HLTFA301B Apply First Aid, incorporating HLTCPR201A Perform CPR.  Learner assessment is conducted throughout the course, and includes a short multiple question paper on the last night (anyone needing assistance with written requirements will be. Participants will be sent a manual and workbook prior to attending the course and will be provided with a copy of Sports Medicine Australia Sports First Aid Manual.

Many thanks

Claire
