Kanga Cup - U15 Boys

Our under 15s travelled to Canberra in July to play in the prestigious international tournament, the Kanga Cup.

Kanga Cup - Matchday 1 (Monday)

They kicked off their campaign against Victorian National premier League team Dandenong City.

Gippsland took the lead early through Zoran Winkelman however a controversial penalty decision against Zoran later in the half allowed Dandenong to equalise before half time.

An eventful second half saw gippsland take the lead through Connor Dastey however Gippsland conceded soon after with Dandenong levelling at 2-2. Dandenong gained some confidence and managed 2 more to lead 4-2. Caleb Semple rose at the near post to score a header from a corner but it proved not enough as the score finished 4-3.

Kanga Cup - Matchday 2 (Tuesday)

VS Tigers FC

The boys fronted up first on Tuesday against Tigers FC who currently sit 2nd on the ACT NPL table....
Playing into the wind in the first half the Gippsland boys were under pressure for much of the half however went in at 0-0 at the break.

Tigers FC went 1 up midway through the second half scoring from a corner.
As the half wore on the boys began to get on top as they searched for an equaliser.
Finally it came through Connor Dastey who scored from a tight angle. Gippsland pushed for a winner and in the last minute Jesse Buhagiar scored through a pack of players to take the points.

VS Canberra United Academy

The afternoon game against the Canberra Academy who sit 5th in the ACT NPL table proved a tough one going down 6-0 against a talented outfit.
Strangely this was the Academies first win after losing to Tigers FC and managing a draw against Sydney Uni in a comp where teams are taking points off of each other.

Kanga Cup - Matchday 3 (Wednesday)

Vs Sydney Uni

Game four of the tournament the boys came up against NSW NPL side Sydney Uni.

Once again in blustery conditions the Gippsland boys played into a strong wind in the first half and soaked up a lot of pressure however went to the break at 0-0.

Gippsland dominated the second half however failed to capitalise on the numerous chances they created. It proved their undoing as a last minute winner gave Sydney Uni the points with a 1-0 win.

Kanga Cup - Elimination Final

The boys put in their best performance of the tournament this morning against Dandenong City running out 2-0 winners. Goals by Paddy Richardson & Toby Mullins ensured they progressed to the the semi final later today against Sydney Uni. It was a fantastic team effort & will give the boys a lot of confidence going into the next game

Kanga Cup - Semi Final

Vs Sydney Uni

After their early win against Dandenong City in the elimination final this morning they faced up to Table leaders Sydney Uni in the semi final.

2 first half goals to Adi Page gave the boys a 2-0 half time lead. Desperate defending for almost the whole second half kept the score at 2-0 to put the boys into the final against the Canberra Academy tomorrow after they advanced on penalties in the ACT derby in the other semi.

Kanga Cup - Final

The boys were outplayed by a very good Canberra Academy team in the final eventually going down 5-0. They have had a fantastic week & to make the final was a great achievement. The club would also like to thank everyone for all their messages of support
