Round 4 Match Report - 8/05/2016

The under 13’s, 14’s and 15’s were all back in action at home in Trafalgar and the under 18’s had a bye. The under 14’s and 15’s continued their fine recent form and the under 13’s are still looking to convert their impressive outfield play into goals and consequently, wins.

Under 13’s
The boys went down to Brighton SC 3-1. They played well at times and were good to watch despite the result.

Harrison Meyer scored for the home team and Kelsey dal Pozzo, Antony Katiforis, Liam Sibley and Harrison were all solid contributors.

Under 14’s
The boys continued their recent resurgence with a 2-1 win against Hampton SC.

Gippsland dominated the first 20 minutes however failed to turn that into scoreboard pressure.

Gippsland had slightly more dominance in the second half; however the first goal didn’t arrive until there were 15 minutes left on the clock. The goal was a result of the Hampton goalkeeper fumbling a ball which Daniel Gatpan poked over the goal line.

Hampton immediately responded. Gippsland failed to deal with a corner and the visitors managed to bundle the ball across the line.
With less than 5 minutes to go Gippsland were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box which Connor Dastey converted to give the hosts another three points.

Under 15’s
The Under 15 Boys picked up another 3 points with a 1 – 0 victory against Keysborough SC.

The boys performed very well and played a high possession game which allowed them to control the game for long periods.

The players’ confidence and self-belief started to grow as they passed the ball around, keeping the opposition on the back foot.

Despite this, the first half was a see-saw affair with the visitors having a couple of free kicks just outside the area which they could not convert.

In the second half Gippsland had all the play and it was only a matter of time before they scored. A finely crafted move was finished off by Adonya Victor.

Gippsland keeper, Ben Elliott, had an excellent game, commanding his area and giving Keysborough few chances. Myles Luders stepped up and showed very good touch on the ball and had some excellent runs down the left side of the field. Nicholas Matheson also put his hand up and showed some good ball control, winning the ball and stopping the visitors’ strikers in their tracks.

It was a well-earned victory for the boys and their movement of the ball around the park was excellent.
