What Do Rangers Do In The Off Season?

What do Kyneton Juniors do on their off season? They just keep playing various forms of soccer! From early pre-season training to the futsal court, to the seven a side small pitch, Kyneton juniors can be found playing across the state and Australia.

Here is just a little snippet of what our players have been up to so far this year:

  • In January Jacques De Groot and Flynn Mazza represented Victoria at the National Futsal Championships, Sydney.
  • In March members of Sion’s U16 team and Harry Bucki as the brilliant goalie, came runners up at the Victoria Country Cup for their age group (futsal). The team were undefeated all tournament but went down by a golden goal in the final.
  • U14B players Will, Louis, Ethan and Flynn were part of a championship team for their age group at the same event.
  • On the weekend of March 21/22, Kyneton entered a team in the U14/15A age group at the Boys FC Seven a Side competition at Epsom. After a successful Saturday (all games won), the boys found the competition harder going in the finals on Sunday but came third overall in their age group. Well done. At the same time Percy Randall and Flynn Mazza (U13/14 age group) took the field for the Central Dragons (a team made up of friends from across five of the BASL clubs). A grand final berth beckoned but the team went down 3-2 in controversial circumstances, coming third also in their age group. A great effort boys.
  • Some of our players have just tried out to represent the BASL at the upcoming Victoria Country Championships in Albury-Wodonga. Boys and girls have been selected from Kyneton this year so congratulations and we look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Now we turn our attention to the upcoming outdoor junior season ahead for our BASL players and our girls team in the metro. Good luck to everyone and may the efforts and success from above be continued.
