Start of A New Era

START OF A NEW ERA FOR KYNETON RANGERS

The Kyneton District Soccer Club starts a new era this coming Saturday, with the start of the FFV State Competition for men.

Having won championships in the previous two seasons the club has taken the next step entering the higher competitions in season 2014.   The club entered the Metropolitan Competitions 5 years ago with the goal of playing Saturday Competitions as part of its longer term strategy.   This weekend will see that strategy realised. The year will also see the club utilise its new changeroom and canteen facilities built over the off season and expected to be available for round one.

There is enthusiasm within the playing group to the challenge and the groups pre-season form indicates they will be competitive with the club reaching the 3rd round of the State (Dockerty) Knock Out Cup, a draw against State 4 side Sebastapol Vikings and decisive wins over fellow State 5 teams Greenvale and Mitchell Rangers.

Round One (29 March) sees the club take of Lara at Rangers Headquarters – Barkly Square with the Reserves kicking off at 1.00pm and the Seniors at 3.00pm.

Returning Head Coach Nick Monsbourgh is looking forward to the coming season, the challenges it will bring and believes the playing group has demonstrated their ability in the pre-season.

The club will also field a 3rd team playing on Sundays in the FFV metropolitan competition. Kyneton welcomes anyone wanting to take up the challenge to come along and they will ensure you have a game to play in the exciting year ahead.   Training is on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7.00pm and the club can be contacted at kynetonsoccer@bigpond.com
