IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MINI ROO and JUNIOR TEAMS FOR ROUND 3 ONWARDS

 

Hi All, I trust you have enjoyed the opening two rounds fo the 2017. We must be doing something right as we are always building the club with player numbers. We have 102 Teams in the junior club. As our club moto is  “ our club, our community” we are making a change to the match start times for the U6,U7,U8,U9 matches. This is to share space for for our Men’s State League teams to play home matches at waramanga on Saturdays on Field 107. It is also to ease congestion around other change over times between age groups. It also brings us into line with all other Canberra clubs. This change will start THIS COMING SATURDAY 20th MAY. So the new game times are:

U6 - 9:00am

U7 - 9:45am

U8 - 9:45am

U9 - 10:45 am

U9 Girls 1030 am  ( No Change) 

 

U10 - U18 have no changes to game times.

 

Team Photographs will be taken over the next two saturdays. Days are 20th and 27th May. The great people from MT Photography will be sending your Coach and Manager the schedule in the next day or so. We have bought the photo days forward to the warmer part of the season as the traditional june times were often very cold and possibly wet. Please make sure you get your team all their well before the alloted time to be ready for your time. As we have so many teams it is important you all be on time and be patient. We ask that you make every effort for your players to be all present as the photo is used for the yearbook. It is not compulsory to purchase photos but I can say from personal experience that that are great keepsakes and a great persent for the grandparents. 

 

Mini Roo field setup roster is on the U6 draw and field allocation document. Go to “About Us” tab, scroll down to “Mini Roos Draws” , choose U6 draw. Please ensure that you have your whole team of parents to do the field setup. Arrive at 0800. many hands and all that.  BBQ roster for mini roo teams is on the website . Go to “About Us” tab, scroll down to “Mini Roos Draws” , choose BBQ roster document. BBq needs a minimum of two parents for the duration of your shift. First starts at 0830 to get it all going.The last shift also is required to wash utensils, clean the BBQ, Pack down and return the Marquee to the closest container with the players painted on it. The Canteen roster has been emailed to Junior Teams U11-U18 teams coaches and Managers. Please ensure you turn up for your allocated time. 

 

Parking. Just a reminder that parking around waramanga can be limited. Please execise patience. Please do not park in front ot the emergency gates or the No Parking turn around point next to the canteen. Just a heads up that Parking Operations have suggested to me that parking on the grass on Badimara St will be policed in the the very near future so please do yourself a favour and don’t park on the grass. A fine will ruin the morning. 

 

Dogs. I am a dog lover , having two lovely labrador/ kelpies myself, but they stay at home on game days. Whilst you dog or puppy may the the sweetest dog in the world, it is actually ILLEGAL for it to be on the grounds when games are underway. I have consulted the ACT Sportsgrounds rules and it’s absolutely.clear . Here it is.

Dog prohibited areas

•onto the grounds of a child-care  centre, preschool or primary school

•onto the grounds of a high school  or secondary college during school hours or when school sports or training is  being conducted, including after hours training

•onto a field or playing area  where formal sport is being played

•within 10 metres of  a designated play space (if children are playing on it) or a fireplace (or  heating appliance) designated for cooking

•to the Gibraltar Forest  Regeneration Area formerly known as Gibraltar Pines, Black Mountain Nature Reserve, Mulligans Flat sanctuary, Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve, Jerrabomberra Wetlands, Callum Brae Nature Reserve, Gungahlin Hill Nature Reserve, Rob Roy Nature Reserve and Dunlop, Gungaderra, Mullanggari, Jerrabomberra and Crace grasslands.

Dogs are not permitted in these areas except for assistance dogs with permits. On-the spot fines of $75 can be issued for the above offences.

So it’s pretty clear. Please leave your dear four legged friend at home or 10 meters from the playing area. This means the carpark being the closest. Please assist us by adhering to this ruling as we have heaps more important things to do on game day than reminding owners of this rule and asking your dog to leave.

 

Working with Vulnerable People cards. If you are a coach or manager and haven’t applied for your yet, please do . Richard Wright is at the canteen area ( next to the pigeon boxes) ready to sight your card/ receipt and log the details. This is a mandatory thing as stipulated by the ACT Government , cards must be carried with you on game day and if they randomly audit the club and we are found in breach , we can be substantially fined.
