Bayswater one point off top with Armadale win

Andy Reale scored a hat-trick with three fine finishes after pushing up the park and often joining in the team's attacks from the back line.

His first came in just the sixth minute after the league's leading goal-scorer, Gustavo Marulanda, jinked past two defenders down the left wing and cut the ball back to Reale, who slotted the goal like a centre forward.

His second came in the 72nd minute with Marulanda again dazzling the Armadale defence, flicking the ball over one and darting past another to find Reale in an advanced position once more, easily finding the back of the net.

The third was a more traditional centre half finish - running across the keeper from a corner kick and powering a header into the top corner in the 88th minute.

The defender was proud of his and his team's performance.

"It's pretty exciting; I've only scored one this year, so to score three in one game is pretty special," he said.

"It was an important game today. We needed three points to stay in touch with Inglewood and Floreat, so we'll see how that result went and where we sit in the table now."

Reale was also full of praise for Marulanda, adding: "It's great, he set me up twice and he's a great player. He's good to have in the team because he's a good team player."

Bayswater's other scorer was Callum O'Connell with a cool side foot finish from five yards after a shot had bounced across goal to him.

Armadale's goal was nothing more than a consolation well into injury time. Mitch Gastrilli dribbled across the penalty box from the left wing and found Tavernese in acres of space inside the box, finishing across the keeper who couldn't keep it out.

Armadale could have had a second in injury time if it wasn't for Gianni Papalia. The Bayswater keeper pulled off two incredible reflex saves, one with his legs, after a scramble inside the six yard box. The saves looked even better considering Papalia hadn't been tested at all during regular time.

The victory would be extra pleasing for Bayswater because they had five first team players out through both suspension and injury. Thomas Gooding had a particularly good game closing down the Armadale central midfield well and showing dedication to the team's cause.

Armadale now find themselves thrown into a relegation battle with only 14 points - level with ECU Joondalup and Bunbury Forum Force, and only one point above Western Knights.
