Inglewood continues unbeaten run against Armadale

A brace from Inglewood winger Ryan Clarke helped Inglewood to a 4-1 victory over Armadale on Saturday at 6PR Stadium.

Straight away it was obvious Armadale were on the pitch, their trademark of strong tackles and the vocal Cyril Sharrock sending out orders between the sticks.

50-50 challenges were being let go until a mid air clash between Dannie Richmond and Nick Viaggio, Richmond coming off second best.

Inglewood held all the play in their offensive half with several early chances coming and going only missing the final finish.

It only took until the 15-minute mark for Inglewood to take the lead.

Ryan Clarke making the most of an over hit cross, his 16-yard volley crashing into the top corner.

The partnership between Alex Caniglia and Jason Colli caused chaos in Armadale's defence who constantly sent in multiple crosses.

The game was becoming tense as the tackles continued to cause spectators to grind their teeth.

Armadale had little efforts up-front but a cheeky front flip throw in from Joey Tavernese gave spectators something new to look at.

Ryan Clarke's second goal came from a sweet solo run through the middle placing him one on one with Sharrock, making no mistake in finding the bottom corner.

The half-time break didn't change the aggressive style of the game Inglewood giving some cop back resulting in a yellow card for Dannie Richmond less then a minute into the game restarting.

A low cross from Caniglia created a scramble in the Armadale box with Alex Jovic jumping at the chance to find the back of the net.

Inglewood's confidence continued to grow as did Dannie Richmond's whose goal sealed the game for the Gulls minutes after Jovic's goal.

The final 20 minutes Inglewood had the game tied up and began to play possession.

Even though the game was done and dusted Armadale continued to fight and managed to earn themselves a penalty, for a late consolation goal courtesy of Jason Pottier.

Man of the match Ryan Clarke was rather modest, however was pleased with how his team have started off the season.

"The boys played well Armadale didn't really put up much of a fight..."

Clarke described the Perth Glory merger as a move in the right direction for the club.

"The structure of the club has improved, it is more of a family club now,"

Inglewood will take on last year minor premiers Balcatta next week, Clarke told Football West he was looking forward to the game to gauge where the club stands against one of the top clubs in the league.
