Armadale concede four again

Floreat have continued their impressive start to the season claiming their third straight victory in style defeating a sorry Armadale side 4-1.

Bobby Wilson, Jake Geddes, Jarrad Smith and Liam Boland all scored in the first half for Athena whilst for Armadale Darren Francis notched their solitary goal which coincidentally meant they have now lost three of their first four by the same score line.

Floreat looked to exploit their frailties very early on with a very attacking mentality from the kick off and were desperately unlucky not to be in front within the first five minutes.

Spencer Harris's header after an early corner looked to be bound for the back of the net only for both defenders on either post playing their crucial role to perfection to somehow keep the score level.

It wasn't level for much longer as on 15 minutes a brilliant left footed strike by Bobby Wilson left Cyril Sharrock stranded as the ball flew into the back of the net as Armadale found them behind once more.

Then on the half hour mark Floreat doubled their lead as a combination of skill and poor defending saw Jake Geddes tap in unmarked at the far post after great work by new signing David Heagney set him up with the easiest of finishes.

Armadale were now in pieces as their confidence was sapped away by a dominant Floreat who sensed a rout and they went in for the kill and found a quick third goal on 33 minutes.

Jarrad Smith took advantage of some more woeful defending at the back by Armadale as they failed to clear their lines and Smith swivelled in the box then despatched a brilliant strike beyond Sharrock.

Ludovic Boi then broke clear through the middle before finding Heagney down the left whose return ball was stroked into the net by Boi but was duly marked off for offside.

There was nothing stopping their next goal though as Liam Boland got his name on the scoresheet thanks to a wonderful team effort as they sliced through Armadale once more.

Heagney and Mark Pritchard traded passes before Pritchard crossed to the far post where Boland was on hand to strike clinically into the net.

Athena though after a wonderful first half looked to sit on their lead at the start of the second half and Armadale came to life and quickly found a goal and maybe a way back into the contest.

A brilliant cross field pass by Sean Nicholls found Darren Francis who leaped highest over his marker and planted a strong header into the far corner.

Despite the setback Athena were able to defend their lead as the second half failed to live up to the attacking heights of the first.

The only real threat on either goal was when Liam Boland was clean through on goal but he left his composure behind as he stuttered and shot into the midriff of Cyril Sharrock.

Floreat though after a blistering attacking performance in the first half were great value for their victory but Armadale have a lot of work to do if they are to find the confidence they need to snap out of their losing streak.
