Thornley hat-trick from Balcatta against Armadale

A hat-trick by striker John Thornley has seen Balcatta make it two from two for season 2012.

Balcatta continued their prefect season with a 3-0 win over Armadale in front of a vocal crowd at Alfred Skeet Oval.

John Mills had two early chances to put Balcatta ahead inside the first five minutes, but it took 30 minutes to break the deadlock.

A fantastic long ball from Adam Tong, who returned from suspension, led Thornley to his first goal.

Balcatta captain Steve Burton had a chance in the 37th minute to double the lead before half time, but sent it wide.

After dominating the first half, Balcatta ignited more of the football flame.

It took just one minute for John Thornley to double his goal tally for the night.

Armadale lifted the intensity late in the game, but it was a case of too little too late, with Thornley completing his hat trick in the 78th minute.

A late penalty for a rash handball from Armadale's Sean Nichols could have made the game even more of a blowout, however Steve Burton's shot was saved, but scored off the parry only to have it ruled off side.

Referee Joe Fusari ruled that Burton takes the kick again, but it was put over the bar.

Balcatta coach, Michael Roki said that he was pleased with the progress his team was making.

"After the first three games, we had a target of having six to nine points on the board, and we are on the way to doing that".

Roki commended his defence for their hard work and work ethic, but said there were downfalls.

"We worked really hard to regain possession, and the work ethic was fantastic. In saying that, our passing game was not the best".

Striker John Thornley said he was pleased with the efforts everyone has put in.

"We are really pumped, and we know we are a good side. We dominated tonight and deserved the three points".

Balcatta take on Stirling in the local derby next week, while Armadale tackle Inglewood.
