Wellington Warriors subdued their nemesis the Moorabool Valley Crocs in the latest round of the Victorian Masters AFL competition. The Warriors were bolstered by the temporary return of gangling forward Ryan Evans from Vietnam. Power forward Kevin Read arrived late but was influential after half time. The first quarter was closely fought with three goals apiece. Lurch Kinnish controlled the ruck from the start providing first use of the ball to Jackson, Hennig and Knight. Sage marked strongly. The Crocs had the upper hand in the second term scoring four goals. A Ross long bomb and snapped goal from McQuillen helped the Warriors but the Crocs took a fifteen point lead into the long break. The third term was an arm wrestle with Fogy Larsen prominent. The Crocs scored two goals early. The Warriors kicked three goals through Hutchins, Bertoli and Evans and trailed by nine points at three quarter time. Rob The Warriors finished over the top scoring five goals to three to record a three point victory. Bill Whitford and Jamie Mann shared the goals. Amongst the best were Evans, Ross, Sage, Larsen and Mann.
