TUMBY BAY WIN EASTERN EYRE PREMIERSHIP - September 1947
At the Lipson ground on Saturday, Tumby Bay convincingly defeated Port Neill in the grand final football match. The ground was far from satisfactory, but weather conditions were ideal, and a large crowd attended. In the early stages Port Neill played co-ordinated football, to run away with a handy lead at quarter time, but during the second quarter the Tumby Bay side, which had been slow in settling down, were playing wide to the wings and out pacing their opponents in the race to the ball. The margin at the long interval was one point in favor of the ultimate winners. The game to half-time had been fast and vigorous, however in the third quarter it developed into something of a rough-and-tumble, when at times it appeared to be out of control. By sheer tenacity and speed Tumby held a handy lead at the last change. The final quarter had its exciting moments, when, by superb efforts by Couzner and Annear, Port Neill made a last bid for victory, but the final bell came too soon for them.
Final scores : - Tumby Bay 7 goals 11 behinds, Port Neill 5 goals 8 behinds. Best players: - Tumby Bay all played well Port Neill - Couzner, Anear, I.Cooper, D.Reed.

BUTLER WINS EASTERN EYRE PREMIERSHIP - September 1952
Butler breaks 20 year premiership drought.
On Saturday, the grand final between Minor Premiers Tumby Bay (premiers for five successive seasons) and Butler was played at Lipson under perfect conditions. Early arrivals presaged a big crowd and gate takings were an all-time record. The game opened favourably, but soon fell away, systematic football being rarely seen during the remainder of the first half. The forward work of both teams lacked cohesion, with the kicking for goals being generally faulty. Trailing by four goals just after the half time break, Butler staged a thrilling up-hill fight to take the lead by three-quarter time. Aided by the magnificent field play by Alan Aldenhoven, Butler refused to give up their herculean effort, and ran out the eventual winners by five points. It is 20 years since Butler won a premiership, and then not in the association as it now stands, so theirs was a very popular victory. W. Hawke, of the SANFL effectively controlled the game as central umpire. Scores:-
