A tough night of footy impressed coaches at the Upper Canada College Dome last night.
Lots of rules (we love rules!), lots of skill errors (hey! it’s the first hit-out of the year, relax!) and lots of players keen to get out there and have a kick and the result: low-scoring tight footy.
Team Duggan and Team Bell played out a thriller. Bell’s boys were up by a few goals with 45 seconds left, when Team Duggan kicked two quick ones to level the scores. Anthony O’Brien from Team Bell kicked the sealer with only seconds remaining to sew up their first win.
In the other game, Team Yoni’s Paul Tinkler had a night to forget in front of goals. In the second term, he alone kicked 0.6, as Team McKay took their opportunities when it counted which earned them a comfortable 22-pt win.
Great to see the new fellas getting involved and having an impact on the game — Gazza, Patty, Sean, Scott, Dazza, Liam, Steveo, Kyle. Well done!
Big thanks to Brolsy for a great effort with the whistle as the man in charge!
Here are the scores from round one:
1. BELL 10.5 (65) def 9.5 (59) DUGGAN
2. McKAY 8.8 (56) def 4.10 (34) YONI
