Toronto Dingos Football Club has another milestone this week.
AFL Ontario (and OAFL) legendary forward, Chris Buczkowski will run onto the field for 150 games, against arch-rivals Toronto Eagles in a do-or-die match for both clubs at Humber South on Saturday.
He’s only the third Dingo to reach this achievement. Stu Wallis reached the milestone last week.
The big fella, also known as “Butch” or “Uncle Butch” is one of the most loved characters at the Dingos and off the field, he always bring the party with him wherever he goes. Toronto Dingos president, Craig Stewart, said, on the field, the Polish goal kicker made his name kicking goals and taking pack marks.
“He’s extremely good at every sport. Even sports he has never played before, he said. “He’s a dead eye dick from 35 metres and once said to me in Ottawa after I kicked 7, that "he could kick a bag every game, but he thought they were overrated".
Buczkowski joined the Dingos in 2001 and was part of the three-peat (2003-05) something he’s always said as “one of his greatest sporting achievements”.
In 2004 he won the club best and fairest as well as best clubman and a string of other awards along the way to 150 games: team manager since 2008; coached in 2011; assistant coach 2008-10, 2012; won the club goal kicking award four times; vice president 2003, 2005-06, 2010; and also became life member in 2010 only one of eight players at the club to do so.
Not one to shy away from voicing his opinion, Buczkowski has been instrumental at the club behind the scenes with his team management skills, tactics, player development and game day operations. This year too, he joins Northwind as assistant and will bring more than 10-years of football experience to the Canadian national team.
He’s one of those mates you want around your club and rest assured win lose or draw, “Butch” will always find a way to lift the teams’ spirits on and off the field; whether it be a pack mark and goal or sharing a Jager bomb at the bar.
*** Congratulations on all of your achievements on the way to 150 Butch! ** The Toronto Dingos Football Club would like to wish Chris Buczkowski all the best in his 150th game for the club this weekend, and, would like to say thank you mate for your hard work and time that you've put into the club! Legend! ***
