The Demons would like to formally introduce our new logo for the 2013 season.
The High Park Demons Australian Football Club was founded in 1989 as the Mississauga Mustangs A.F.C. Throughout the years, there have been many changes in the club and the choice of logo has reflected those changes.
The original Mississauga Mustangs played in the traditional Melbourne Demons jersey, which is blue with red triangle at the top. Before sleek water resistant materials were the fashion of the day, the Mustangs played in heavy wool jerseys that chafed the nipples and soaked up every bit of sweat. Before there were Guernsey manufacturers available in the GTA, most jerseys were donated kits from Melbourne. As a result, the Mustangs logo was only displayed on a website (once websites were in fashion) and team kit. The galloping Mustang was a perfect representation of the fitness-orientated Demons playing style.
In 2005, the number of Mustangs coming from Mississauga was in steady decline. There was a new Aussie presence in the High Park area of Toronto and our team pub was located near the corner of Bloor and Parkside. The decision was made to align ourselves closer to the Melbourne Demons by making a location and name change to High Park and the Demons. With this significant change in the club came a departure from the classic Mustang logo to the Melbourne Demons classic logo.
In 2013, the club elevated a new and refreshed executive and celebrated that evolution with a new look and logo. Moving forward, our jerseys and apparel will have our new Demons head logo proudly displayed. Reflecting a more detailed and dastardly looking Demon, the coaching has emphasized fitness and defensive intensity. With the new logo, all three teams made the 2013 finals and the women celebrated the thrid consecutive premiership win. As we commence our 25th year, we look forward to another stellar season, Go Dees!
