Round #7 of the 2014 AFLO season saw the Ottawa Swans take on the Hamilton Wildcats at home. At the end of the day both teams were victorious.
MEN WIN
Swans 13.17.95, Wildcats 4.7.31
Under a hot sun at the RCR the Cats got the early jump with a quick goal after the first bounce. The response from the Swans was immediate and effective. The first term had the ball in the Swans offensive for most of the time. The Wildcats had good ground level play and made it hard for the Swans to add to the scoreboard in the second. The Wildcats continued pressuring the Swans, but with Matthew Powell getting 3 strong goals in the third, the game started to get away from the Cats. The final term saw 4 more goals from 4 different Swans. In a game where the guys were hoping to improve their percentage, poor accuracy from the Swans was less than ideal. With this win the Swans improve their position on the leader board. They look forward to taking on the Eagles at home this weekend.
LADIES ARE TOPS
Swans 3.11.29, Wildcats 3.6.24
The Lady Swans once again played the Hamilton Wildcats. They came out wanting to erase their loss from the previous week. The Ladies seemed to have learned from their last encounter with the Cats and came out strong. They played a very physical and hard-fought game from the first ball up. The chemistry on-field, especially the “Montreal Connection” in the middle helped control the game. A fourth quarter goal by Amanda Paradis secured the win for the Ladies. Just like the men, the ladies also would have benefited from more accurate kicking. With such a close game there is no surprise that full back, Cat Geci was voted Player’s Player. This win puts the Lady Swans on top of the leader board. Their next test is the Roos on July 26th.
