The Ottawa Swans took a break from throwing the footy to throw some rocks at the Ottawa Curling Club on Feb. 9.
The club filled all five sheets of ice at the club during the fundraiser for the Ottawa Food Bank. The Ottawa Curling Club generously provided the fifth rink free of charge, allowing the Swans to donate more funds to the Ottawa Food Bank.
Club president Chris MacLean said that it was one of the most successful curling evenings that the Swans have run.
“It’s great to see the team taking a break to give back to the community,” MacLean said. “We were able to donate several boxes of food and almost $200 to the Ottawa Food Bank, which I feel is an excellent contribution.”
While many of the players are more comfortable on the footy field than the curling sheets, several experts were able to give some quick tips to any rookies.
The large turnout for the curling evening will hopefully be an indication of a strong 2013 club culture and event turnouts.
