VALE RON DICKSON
This morning the club received the sad news that Ron Dickson, father of Ian Dickson who many of you may know, passed away.
Ron was an original Mudlarker, and a foundation member of our great club. He was also a life member.
Ron served as President of the club for two years in the early 1970's. Ron was employed by a multinational construction company and relinquished the presidency when he was transferred offshore for work.
Ron was very active in the broader community having served as a then Croydon City Councillor, as well as being a member of community groups including Lions and Rotary.
Upon his return from the offshore posting Ron continued his volunteer work with the club, performing roles including club tribunal delegate, time keeper and interchange steward to name a few, a number of these more recently also performed by Ian.
Although not in the best of health in recent years, we are told that Ron was extremely pleased to have witnessed both Western Bulldogs 2016 and South Croydon Bulldogs 2017 premierships!
Our thoughts and condolences are extended to Ian and all the Dickson family at this difficult time.
Rest in peace Ron.
