Last week saw our first game at Hughes Park with mixed results. Off field, there was a great deal of help by lots of volunteers, thanks to all. Onfield, we faced Noble Park. The colts put in a very good showing with plenty of endeavor, but fell away on the scoreboard in the second half. McKeown kicked 3, Tomlinson 2. Better players O/Toole, Tomlinson, Dyck and Smith. The Seconds showed the depth we should have this year, with an excellent 4 quarter performance to come away winners by 34pts in Pembo's first game as coach. Better players Fraraccio, Allison, Festini, Cuthbert, M King and Matarazzo, whilst McConnell kicked 4, Matarazzo and Killen 2 each. In the seniors we faced last years premiers and saw a very good team score a big win despite excellent endeavor and good passages of play from the young bulldogs. We thought we were fighting back into the game with the first 3 goals of the second half before Noble stepped up a gear and went on to record a big win. Plenty of good signs however, our fitness was certainly up and new recruits showing they will be valuable additions. Better players Stephens, Kearney, Van Gulik, Walkley and D King with Mallison, Costello and D King all kicking 2 goals. This week we travel to Blackburn and with similar endeavor, we should be looking to get our first win on the board. On the fundraising and social side, your support this year will be critical. See anyone on the committee to sign up for the Kennel club or to sponsor the club. Round 3 against Croydon we have our first President's lunch followed by Jimmy Darvidis...see Tracey for tickets.
