Eddie Sudomirski accepted the EFL 50 Years of Footy, Service to the Game Award last weekend.
For those who are not familiar with Eddie, (Mooroolbark Eddie, or simply - ‘Old Man Sudsy’) he is a Life Member of Mooroolbark Football Club.
Sudsy’s footy career actually started at Vermont in 1963 in the Under 16s, with Bluey Marsh as Coach. There were no Under 18s in those days so he went straight into the Seniors in 1964. He played in the Reserves Premiership side, beating an undefeated Kilsyth (the Grand Final was Kilsyth’s only loss for the year!)
Eddie got married in 1971, moved to Mooroolbark in September 1972, joined the Mooroolbark Football Club and has been here ever since - 39 Years to be exact!!
He has fulfilled many and varied roles at Mooroolbark, has held office as Treasurer for 5 years, was on the Committee for ages and has been Team Manager of all sides - including being Team Manager of our 2009 Reserves Premiers team.
He has been known to be an Umpires Escort, Goal Umpire for various teams and has even held office as our cleaner of the club-rooms.
Over the past 20 years, though, Eddie is most highly respected as a Time Keeper. He has been an EDFL/ EFL Time Keeper in several Finals series over many many years and is still our Time Keeper today.
Eddie is good for a laugh, an argument and a cold beer! He loves his family dearly and adores the Footy Club.
Congratulations Sudsy - We are very proud to have you at our club.
