Ramblers have secured 2 premiership flags after last Saturday’s RMFL Grand Finals at Tailem Bend Oval.
In the early game, our Under 15s had a dream finish to their unbeaten season with a dominant 52 point win over Mypolonga. Ramblers jumped ahead in the first quarter and moved further ahead as the game progressed. Our goals were scored by Jesse 2, Luke 2, Malik 1, Chris 1, Lual 1, Cameron 1, Bailey 1 and Keynan 1. Best players for Ramblers were Kane, Keynan, Shannon, Vincent and Hayden. Vincent was voted as best player in the Grand Final and was awarded the Kluske Medal.
The Reserves knew they would be in for a battle against Imperials and this is exactly how the match turned out. In unfavourable conditions The Blues got the first goal for the match and led 1.2 to 0.2 at quarter time. Ramblers kept The Blues scoreless for the rest of the game whilst adding 1.9 themselves to earn a hard fought 9 point victory. Our only goal was from the boot of Muffy with a brilliant snap just after half-time. Our better players were Alex, Muffy, Tom, James and Tyson. Alex Button was selected for the Reschke Medal in recognition of his solid work around the ground. Alex announced his retirement in the rooms after the game so it was a fitting way for him to end his career.
The Presentation Night for the Under 13s, 15s and 17.5 grade footballers is this Friday 29th September. RSVPs and meal orders should have already been confirmed through Tam Pfeiffer.
Rambler Football Club Senior Presentations are to be held on Saturday 7th October. Invitations have been sent so make sure that you get your replies and payments in quickly.

Ramblers have 2 teams through to this year’s Grand Finals after good wins by our Reserves and Under 15 teams on the weekend. The Under 17.5s are now out of the finals as they were beaten in their Semi Final match.
Our Reserves have set themselves up with the opportunity of acquiring their 4th premiership in 4 years by defeating Imperials in Saturday’s 2nd Semi Final game. This was a tight, physical match with The Blues taking the early advantage to lead at the first break. The lead see-sawed over the next few quarters before Ramblers finished off the better to secure the win by 10 points. Hassa was brilliant with 2 great goals plus single goal scores by Muffy, Matty, Millsy and Josh. Our best players were Thomas, Paechy, Kerls, Muffy and Hassa.
The Under 17.5s were gallant in defeat, going down by 29 points to Jervois. Jacob kicked 3 goals, Sammy 2, Kyle 2 and Minya 2. Shannon and Alex both kicked a goal as well. Jacob got the vote for our best player with Jack, Shannon, Sammy and Nathan all making good contributions.
The Under 15s got out to an early break and preserved their lead to gain victory against The Tigers. Jesse continued his great year with another 3 goal haul, Bailey kicked a couple with Brayden and Lual hitting the scorecard with a goal each. Keynan, Kane, Brayden, Jesse and Noah were our best five on the day. These boys can now prepare to finish off their unblemished season with a win in the game that matters most.
All the best to our netball teams with their Grand Final games this weekend. We have 7 teams challenging for the title. It would be great to see plenty of red and white at Jervois this Saturday to support The Roosters to land some premierships. Teams competing are:
8.30am - 11 & Under Div 2 - Ramblers v Mypolonga
8.30am - 15 & Under Div 1 - Ramblers v Tailem Bend
8.30am - 13 & Under Div 2 - Tailem Bend v Ramblers
9.45am - 11 & Under Div 1 - Ramblers v Imperials
11.00am - 17 & Under - Imperials v Ramblers
1.45pm - C Grade - Mypolonga v Ramblers
1.45pm - B Grade - Ramblers v Mypolonga
Congratulations go to Rambler Netball Club for their superb efforts this year, winning both Junior Club of the Year and Best Overall Club at the RMNA awards. Ramblers were well represented amongst the Best and Fairest award & runner-up award recipients. Well done to you all for your great season’s work.

Our League team’s season has now sadly ended with a 30 point loss to Jervois last Sunday. The Bluds gained the early scoreboard ascendency and kept the lead throughout the match. Scoring proved difficult with Ramblers scoring just six goals, all individual efforts. Our better players were Jarrad, Paddy, Luke, Wegs and Tyson.
The Under 17.5 team have won the right to challenge Jervois in the 1st Semi Final this Sunday at Meningie by finishing 50 points the better of Mypolonga in the Elimination Final. Contributing to our scoring were Sam and Jacob, both kicking 3 goals. Minya kicked 2 goals with single goals courtesy of Glenn, Shannon, Bayde, Sean and Jonny. The best players in this game were Jacob, Shannon, James, Jack and Glenn.
Ramblers’ Reserves and Under 15 teams will be in action this Saturday at Le Messurier Oval. The prize for a win is a place in the Grand Final match in 2 week's time. The Under 15 game is at 10.00am with the Reserves game underway from 12.40pm. Let’s get out there and show our support to push both teams through to Grand Final Day.
The Under 7s, Under 9s and Under 11s are having their Presentation Day this Saturday between 11am and 1pm at our Clubrooms to wind up their season. Thanks to all of the coaches and everyone else that has helped out throughout the year. Special thanks to our sponsors for their continuing support.

With the minor round done and dusted, it’s now onto September finals action. All of our teams will again be participating in the finals series. The Reserves and Under 15 sides have taken out the minor premiership so earn a break for the first week of the finals. Our League and Under 17.5 teams are in the elimination final so must keep winning to keep their premiership dreams alive.
Accolades to all grades for their commitment which has allowed Ramblers to claim the Lyall Parker Club Championship for this year, an award we last won in 2008. The club’s direction with developing and promoting our juniors is continuing to show pleasing results at all levels.
The League team go into the elimination final with momentum after pushing aside Mannum with a 20 point victory last Saturday. Doogs and Duke both slotted through 3 goals with Millsy and Kheenan each getting a couple. Thommo played a brilliant game, Clint was again consistent with Alex, Jack Lewis and Duke all impressing. Sammy Rigney debuted and played well with Hurf also stepping up into the A’s for the second week and showing good form.
Our Reserves have ensured top spot in accounting for Mannum by 69 points. Sykes kicked 6 goals and CG 3 goals as our multiple scorers. CG, Fiegs, Hassa, Kerls and Tom all put in great games.
The Senior Colts were up against the unbeaten Roos who have shown they are the team to beat this season. Although our guys went down by 159 points, they did not let up. Griffin and Glenn were our goal scorers, both with singles. Best players were James, Shannon, Glenn, Jordon and Brayden.
Under 15s have closed out the minor round with another big win, finishing 76 points ahead of their rival. Our goal scorers were Keynan 3, Bailey 2, Jesse 2, Chris 1, Noah 1, Kane 1 and Lual 1. Ramblers’ best players were Mick, Tomas, Chris and Hayden.
Congratulations to Jarrad Sykes in taking out the RMFL Reserves goalkicking award with a tally of 45 goals. This feat was replicated by Jesse Paech who secured the RMFL Under 15 goalkicking award, also with a total of 45 goals. Well done to both players on these great individual achievements.
Our appreciation goes to the organisers and sponsors of the Under 13 Carnival. Our team lost their first match before bouncing back to win their remaining preliminary matches to finish top of their pool. We earnt the right to challenge Mannum who had completed a clean sweep of their games to finish leader of the second pool. In the final, Mannum had the early running but our boys didn’t give up to challenge Mannum right up until the final siren. To finish runners-up is a great result and a big thanks go to all involved.
Let’s get behind the Red and White this Saturday and make this a special year for our Club.

Results did not go our way in the League and Reserves grades last Saturday at Meningie. For the 2nd time this year, we made the trek to Lakeside and came home with losses for both senior teams. The League side succumbed to the strong Meningie team by just under 10 goals. Our goal scorers all kicked single tallies - Duke, Paddy, Keynan, Minya, Clint, Millsy and Joshy. The best of our playing group were Troy, Luke, Woodsy, Jars and Clint.
The Reserves team couldn’t get on top of a determined Bears outfit and fell short by 12 points. Cyril was our only multiple scorer with 2 goals. Tabey, Woodsy, Sykes and Kheenan each recorded individual goals. Dutchy, Kerls, Hassa, Buttsy and Sykesy all played well to keep us in the hunt.
With Meningie struggling for numbers in the junior grades, these games finished as blow-outs. The Senior Colts won by 148 points. Minya had an outstanding game to be best on field and kicked 12 goals. Bayde slotted through 4 goals with Samuel 3, Callum 2 and Jake 2 being our other multiple scorers. BJ, Glenn, Samuel and Shannon all got plenty of the ball.
In the Under 15 grade, the final margin was 173 points. Top scorers were Jesse 7, Dylan 6, Brayden 3, Noah 3, Cameron 2 and Hayden 2.
The Under 13 boys also did the Club proud with their 63 point win. They are showing good form in the lead-up to this Sunday’s Carnival at Johnstone Park. It would be great to have as many senior players as possible come out to watch, encourage and support these lads as they are the future of the Club.
Added 14/08/2017:
This week’s matches at Meningie will be our last away games before the finals. We return to our home deck at Le Messurier Oval the following Saturday to close out the minor round.
It was another good round for our senior teams last Saturday but the junior grades had to share in the spoils. All of our teams have now locked in a finals berth with results over these last few rounds to determine the final ladder positions.
In Saturday’s game, our League team started the last quarter with a 20 point deficit but surged to kick the next 5 goals and complete an 8 point win over arch rivals Imperials. The win now ensures our place in the final five. Thommo was again prominent with 3 goals with Keynan and Doogs each kicking 2 goals. Jars led from the front, Clint played his role with Muffy, Kheenan and Keynan rounding out our best five players for the game.
The Reserves have again combined well to record a 5 goal victory in the battle for top spot. The win was set up with a solid first quarter which allowed us to lead by 25 points at the first break. Sykes kicked another lazy 5 goals with Millsy scoring 2 and six players getting singles. Tyson Pratt, Dutchy, Tom, Hurf and Brandon all played great games in our win.
Senior Colts could not keep pace with their stronger opponent and finished 39 points behind. Tyson was our main scorer with 3 goals. Samuel, Minya and Mods each kicked a goal. Best players were Minya, Jack Lewis, James, Mika and Tyson.
It was all one-way traffic in the Under 15 game with our boys smashing The Blues by 163 points. Goals were spread around between Dylan 6, Jesse 4, Cameron 3, Chris 2, Shannon 2, Brayden 2, Lual 2, Malakai 2, Jack 1 and Kane 1. The entire team contributed to this good win.
With finals only a few weeks away, it’s important for all players to make the effort to get out on the track and let’s make this a really special year for the Club.
Added 01/08/2017:
Round 15 was a superb one for our Club with Rambler teams completing a clean sweep of wins in their games against Tailem Bend.
The League result was particularly good as the victory gives us a handy break in the race to secure a finals position. Ramblers had their nose in front all day to run out 19 point winners at the final siren. Minya with 3 goals and Thommo with 2 goals were the main scorers in very trying conditions. Our best players were Paddy, Jars, Doogs, Minya and Alex P. It was pleasing to see our young dynamo Keynan Harradine at 15 years of age make the step up into League ranks. Keynan made a great first-up impression as well as scoring a goal in his debut game.
Our Reserves romped in over The Eagles to win by 18 goals in another very consistent performance. Tyson Mills kicked 5 first-half goals with Kerls and Sykes nailing 4 each. Tyson Pratt and Lambey both chipped in with couple also. The standout players in this game were Tyson Pratt, Dutchy, Millsy, Woodsy and Matty.
The Senior Colts match saw another big margin of just over 12 goals in our favour. Samuel kicked truly for 5 goals, Minya scored 3 and there were singles to Conner, Randall, Shannon and Tyson. Samuel was voted our best with support from Mika, Glenn, Shannon and Tyson.
Our Under 15s prevailed 22 to 2 in a very low scoring game. The Under 13s have continued their winning run, knocking out a 19 point victory.
With this weekend being a bye, our next scheduled match is on August 12 at Johnstone Park in “The Battle of the Bridge” against Imperials.

This Saturday we host our second last home game for the year and it will be a very important match in the context of our season. With the head to head record between Ramblers and Tailem Bend standing at one-each this year, the League match should be a blinder. Ramblers come into the game with narrow losses over successive weeks so must turn things around.
The Bluds pipped us by 2 points on Saturday in a keenly contested game. After building up to almost a 4 goal lead into the final quarter, Jervois hit back to overtake our score. Thommo had a 4 goal haul with Luke and Minya both contributing 2 goals. Our best players were Luke, Kheenan, Jars, Brissla and Minya.
Our Reserves side held a 1 point advantage at three-quarter time but piled on the goals in the last quarter to ease to a 33 point win. Sykesy kicked 3 goals and Muffy 2 goals in our total. Tom, Muffy and Kerls were amongst our best along with the 2 Jarrads - Burat and Sykes.
Our Under 17.5s have defeated Jervois by 27 points after a strong second half of football. The victory has brought us level on premiership points with Jervois but The Bluds hold onto 3rd spot through their superior percentage. Minya and Bayde each kicked 2 majors in the win. There were a host of good players with the best being Minya, Nathan, Jacob, Jack Lewis and Bayde.
Under 15s have continued their unblemished season with a 15 goal demolition. Luke kicked 3 goals with Cameron, Lual and Malakai each scoring 2 goals. Prominent players were Kane, Cameron, Bailey, Tomas and Dalziel.
The Under 13s made it a clean sweep for the junior grades with a handy 26 point win.
Ramblers’ Ladies Day activities will take place this Saturday throughout the afternoon. The event is in support of the RMFL Domestic Violence Awareness Day and monies raised will support the White Ribbon Foundation.

Football supporters at Mypolonga Oval on Saturday witnessed some exciting finishes to the senior games. Our League side went into the last quarter with a 29 point deficit and pegged this back to just a point with under a minute to play but were not able to post another score before the final siren blew. Ben Dougall made a successful return to the side scoring 3 goals with Clint also kicking 3. Dean and Thommo both kicked 2 goals. Troy had a superb game along with great efforts from Jim, Nelly, Clint and Paddy.
The Reserves game also ended with a 1 point margin but this time the result was in our favour. In a low scoring game, Jarrad Sykes kicked 3 goals including a sensational match-winning snap close to full time. Tom and CG were our other goal scorers. Best players were Kerls, Hurf, Millsy, Tom and Dutchy.
In the Under 17.5 match, Ramblers were 8 goal winners after powering away in the second half. Minya kicked 6 of our goals, Bayde 3, Jacob 3 and Samuel 2 as the multiple goal scorers. Ramblers’ best players were Jacob, Cody, Minya, Samuel and Brayden.
It was another comfortable win for our Under 15 team with a 31 point margin over The Tigers. Keynan contributed 2 goals with 5 players getting singles. There were strong games by Bailey, Vincent, Jack, Shannon and Dalziel. Our Under 13s have notched up another win, downing Mypolonga by 61 points in a great display.
This Saturday we hold the Goods and Services Auction which has proven to be an excellent fundraiser for the Club as well as being a great social event. The Rambler Netball Club are catering the teas so you are all welcome to stay around for a good feed and to bid for the items on offer.
The following week is another home game for us and this has been assigned as our Ladies Day. The theme of the round is Domestic Violence Awareness. The invitation is there for all ladies to meet in the pavilion on the hill to enjoy drinks, nibbles and socialising whilst watching some great footy. Contact Ness Juergens for more details or look for event information on the Facebook and the club website pages.

This coming round of matches on Saturday 15 July have been designated as the MAC Road Safety Round. MAC’s involvement with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), as the Major Partner of Community Football, provides an important platform to promote road safety in country South Australia.
Less than one third of the state’s population lives outside of Adelaide, yet on average 60% of road fatalities and 50% of serious injuries occur in regional South Australia. With almost 70 percent of these crashes involving regional residents, it shows the heighted risk associated with country driving.
The Round also seeks to encourage road safety conversations within the football club environment (and local community) - with the aim of reducing road trauma.
MAC and SANFL Community are providing a medal for presentation to one player of each A-Grade match over the MAC Road Safety Round. The medal is to be awarded to the player whose impact, based on the decisions they make, positively affects the match outcome - not necessarily the player judged to be the best on ground. The The medals have been provided to each Club President of the home teams playing across the weekend.

What a weekend it was for our Murray South East Zone team in blitzing their opposition to win the 2017 MAC SA Country Football Championships. The players selected from RMFL were prominent in all games. Our own Alex Pfeiffer takes home another winners’ medal to go with his award from last year. Former Rambler Mark “Rumbles” Rumbelow was selected in the Team of the Championships.
In the last round of RMFL matches, Meningie had our measure for the second time this season in chalking up a 35 point win over our League side. Main goal scorers were Clinton with 4, Thommo 3 and Paddy with 2. There were singles to Luke, Minya and Jars. Our best players from that game were Paddy, Tyson, Briss, Ty and Jars.
Rambler Reserves had a slow start, going into quarter time with a 25 point deficit. They were able to turn the game around from this point, kicking 14.8 to 1.0 to cruise to an easy 61 point win. Sykesy had a 4 goal game with Muffy, Kheenan and Sizzla all kicking 2 majors. Our best players were Kheenan, Hassa, Nelly, Tom and Muffy.
The junior grades all had healthy wins over The Bears. In the Senior Colts, the margin was over 20 goals. Jacob slotted 7 goals, Samuel 4 and Brayden 3 to lead our scorers. Bayde, Jesse and Minya all kicked 2 goals. There were exceptional games by Jacob, Samuel, Bayde, Jordon and Bailey.
Under 15s remain unbeaten, this time amassing a 140 point win. There were a swag of goal kickers with Jesse leading the way with 5 goals. Bailey again had a handy game and was well supported by Kane, Cody, Dalziel and Vincent.
The Under 13s also smashed it to record a 10 goal victory.

It was a near perfect outing for the Club in the games against Tailem Bend last Saturday.
Our League team picked up a much needed win by 11 points. It looked dire when Ramblers fell 5 goals behind early into the 3rd quarter but then the Red Machine kicked into gear to add the next 9 goals of the match to overtake Tailem Bend. Major goal scorers were Thommo 4, Alex Button 3, Paddy 2, Alex P 2, Clint 2 and Duke 2. Our best players were Jars, Pratty, Brissla, Alex P and Paddy. Congratulations to Cam Hansen on making his League debut.
Rambler Reserves, in a consistent four quarter effort, showed their dominance over The Eagles to win by over 17 goals. Sykesy had a five goal game with Matty and Lambey both chipping in with 2 goals. Seven players scored singles in our huge tally. Best players were Harry, Matty, Nash, Jarrad and Dutchy.
The Senior Colts swamped Tailem with 48 scoring shots to nil in gaining a 158 point victory plus a valuable percentage boost. Main goal-kickers were Samuel 4, Jayden 4, Lewy 3 plus Glenn and Bayde, each with 2 goals. Samuel, Glenn, Jonny, James and Jayden were amongst our best.
Our Under 15s remain unbeaten this season with an 87 point thumping of Tailem. The whole team played well and failed to concede a goal. Bailey, Noah, Brayden, Chris and Shannon were standouts. Jesse was our high scorer with 4 goals with other multiple scorers being Brayden with 3, Lual 2 and Noah 2.
The only blemish to our scorebook on the day was in the Under 13 grade where our boys were unlucky to get pipped by a point.
A reminder to all about the Rump & Red Dinner this Saturday night. Meals need to be pre-ordered as the dinner is being catered by our good sponsor Eat House. Contact Ness Juergens with your order to be sure you don’t go hungry on the night. Entertainment will be provided by talented musician Shannon Lloyd.

We are now moving into the second half of the season so it’s important for teams to knuckle down and increase their intensity as every game from here on is important towards securing a finals berth.
This week is a must-win game for our League team against Tailem Bend after our narrow loss in the Cawte-Norrish cup game last round. Scores were close throughout the match but The Blues had their noses in front when it mattered. Luke Button was our high scorer with 3 goals, Woodsy kicked 2 with Dukes and Alex P each slotting singles. Our best players were Brissla, Paddy, Wales, Deano and Luke Button.
The Reserves side have dropped another game and now move to a 5-3 win/loss record. Imperials kept us to 5 goals for the match with Minya kicking 2 and singles to Matty, Brayden and Nash. Ramblers best five in this game were Harry, James, Lambey, Sizzla and Matty.
Imperials also imposed pain in the Senior Colts grade, edging us out to take a 26 point win. After taking a 3 point lead into the long break, we were over-run in the last half. Minya, Jacob and Lewy scored 3 goals each with Bayde getting 2. Jacob was our stand-out player followed by Cody, Minya, James and Mika.
The Under 15s have continued on their winning way easily getting the points in another mammoth victory. Imperials were held scoreless until the last quarter. Noah kicked a bag of 5 goals, Lual 4, Jesse 4 with 2 goals each to Luke, Dylan, Malik and Kane. The best players were Bailey, Noah, Kane, Luke and Jesse.
Well done also to our Under 13s in chalking up a solid 19 point win in their game.
Our next home match on July 1 coincides with the Rump and Red Dinner which is always a popular function. Event details will be appearing on the Facebook and website pages or ask for information through any of the Social Club committee.

We had mixed results from our journey to Mannum last Saturday. There were wins for the Reserves and Under 15s but other grades were well beaten.
The League team kept in touch with Mannum in the first half to be just a goal down at the long break. The Roos blew us away in the third quarter, extending their lead to 44 points with a quarter to play. Mannum didn’t let up in a very wet last quarter and eased to a 10 goal win. Minya kicked 3 goals to be our only multiple goal scorer. Best players were Troy, Paddy, Wegs, Wales and Thommo.
The Reserves grade settled early and went on to win every quarter to take victory by 35 points. It was a thrill to see Brayden Kartinyeri make his senior debut alongside father Muffy. Both featured in our best players along with Buttsy, Thomas and Josh. Millsy led our scoring with 3 goals and was assisted by Josh and Tex, both scoring 2.
Our Senior Colts were up against the unbeaten team in this grade and struggled to contain them. Samuel was our sole goal scorer and was rated best for Ramblers. Keynan, James, Daniel and Conner all put in solid games in support.
The rampaging Under 15s chalked up another good win, finishing 15 goals ahead of their opposition. Multiple goal kickers were Bohdi, Noah and Keynan, each with 3 goals as well as Luke with a couple. Best players were Kane, Bailey, Lual, Vincent and Keynan.
The earlier Under 13 game was won by Mannum by 34 points.

We were treated to near perfect conditions at Jervois Oval last Saturday for our matches and came away with good results in almost all grades.
Our League team picked up another much needed win. It was an inspired start, banging on 8 goals in the first term to take a 6 goal lead into quarter time. The pace of the game then dropped for much of the remainder of the match. We held off a last quarter charge from The Bluds to earn a 26 point victory. Clinton kicked 4 goals, with Paddy and Jack each getting 2. Best players were Brissla, Alex, Deano, Paddy, Tyson and Clinton.
The Reserves side also broke their run of outs with a good 53 point win. Multiple goal scorers were Harry and Millsy, both with 3 goals as well as Lambey kicking 2 majors. Many players had their moments with Nelly, Dutchy, Millsy, Butts and Josh being amongst our best on the day.
Our Under 17.5s were outmuscled in their game to go down by a big margin. Daniel and Brayden provided our goals with Glenn, Cody, Nathan, Howie and Mika being our better players.
It was another superb performance by the Under 15 lads, being untroubled in getting over Jervois by a massive 170 points. Keynan was again prominent with 7 goals. Other multiple goal kickers were Shannon 4, Bohdi 4, Jesse 3, Noah 2 and Bailey 2. Keep up the fantastic work.
The Under 13 team have again come through with another nice win. It’s great to see our juniors having so much passion for their football.
Added 15/05/2017:
Our juniors have been in some good recent form however the senior teams have put in a couple of ordinary weeks. For the second round in a row, both our League and Reserves grades have come away with disappointing losses.
In the League competition, Mypolonga jumped us in the first quarter by kicking 5.1 to 1.5 and they were not headed from there. Our boys did put in a bit of fight in the last term but left too much to do and couldn’t close the gap, going down by 9 points. Matt again was a standout kicking 3 goals and was strong all around the ground to earn top votes. Sykes was our other multiple goal scorer with a couple. Wales, Dean, Alex and Sykesy rounded out our best players. Patrick O’Neil compiled his 200th League game, a fantastic achievement. Paddy has been a real workhorse for our Club and the RMFL.
The B’s also gave The Tigers a start and it took until the final minute before half-time for us to post our first goal. Mypo didn’t let us back in the game and went on to win by 38 points. Jack Lewis took some big grabs in front of goal and kicked 3 of our goals. Tyson, Kerls and Dasher all scored singles. Best player nods went to Hass, Matty, Peter, Tom and Dutchy.
Our Under 17.5 team grabbed another great win, outscoring Mypolonga by 50 points. Jacob was our main scorer with 3 goals. Jack Lewis, Jayden, Minya and Johnathon H all kicked 2 goals each. The best player votes went to Jacob, Glenn, Jack Lewis, Mika and Cody.
In the Under 15 grade, this team continued their dominant season with a 117 to 1 demolition. Keynan scored 5 goals, Jesse 3 with Luke and Bailey each adding 2 goals. It was another great team effort, with special mentions to Keynan, Bailey, Luke, Kane and Brayden.
The Under 13’s put in another solid effort, easily accounting for Mypo by over 10 goals.

Both of our senior teams came away from Meningie last week without the premiership points. The League team were down by 26 points at the final change but with the last use of a strong breeze. The Bears were able to nullify this advantage to run out overall winners by 22 points. Minya and Sykes were the best of our goal scorers with 2 goals each. Ramblers’ best players for this match were Pratty, Wales, Briss, The Duke and Riley.
The Reserves side fell short by just a point to record their first blemish this season. It was a congested game in which Meningie did well to restrict our run and to hold up play often. Tex and Harry each kicked 2 goals. Tyson, Tom, Tex, Kerls and Jack Lewis all put in serviceable games.
The junior teams all had big wins against Meningie teams that are struggling for numbers to fill teams. The Under 17.5 side finished 15 goals ahead. Jack Howell was our main individual scorer with 3 goals. Callum, Kyle, Bayde, Minya, Jacob and Braydon all chipped in with 2 goals each. Best players were Jacob, Jonny, Jack Lewis, Jack Howell and Brayden.
Our Under 15 boys restricted Meningie to just 3 points in the game to run out victors by 139 points. Bodhi contributed 5 goals with Jesse and Dylan each getting 4 goals. The standout players were Dylan, Luke, Brayden, Bohdi and Alexander.
Ramblers’ Under 13 team also amassed a huge win in the early game.
Our next Social Club event is the Progressive Dinner planned for Saturday 20th May following the Jervois game. More information will be provided via the Facebook and website pages as details become available.
This Saturday is our annual Sponsors Day. In appreciation of the excellent support we receive from the many businesses and individuals in their sponsorship of our Club, we endeavour to return the favour by treating them to an afternoon of good food, drink and footy. Remember to always support those who support us.

Last Saturday our League team came up against a Tailem Bend side which is on the rise. The Eagles gave us a football lesson and led at every change to come out winners by 33 points. Millsy was the best of our scorers with 4 goals and Minya racked up 3 goals. Matt Altmann continued his good form and Minya again had an outstanding game. CG, Tyson and Cheery all put in solid games as well.
Rambler Reserves have chalked up another big win. In a mirror of the previous week’s effort, Sykesy kicked 7 of our 14 goals to lead all scorers. Jack Joy was our other multiple goalkicker with 2 classy goals. The Vanson boys Riley and Mitch led our best players, with Tex and Darcy also having great games.
The Under 17.5s finished almost 30 goals up on Tailem Bend. The goals were spread around the team with a total of 11 individual goalkickers, ten of these players scoring multiples. This was a great team effort with our best contributors being Minya, Jack Lewis, Bayde, Kyle and Jack Howell.
Our Junior Colts have had another big win, finishing 116 points up. Jesse grabbed a bag of 5 goals with Bailey, Lual and Keynan all kicking 2 goals each. Again, 11 players shared in our game goal tally. Rambler’s best performers for this game were Keynan, Kane Christian, Bailey, Cameron and Jesse.
Our Mosquito Fleet in the Under 13s were also successful to make it 4 out of 5 wins for Ramblers on the day.
Our congratulations to all players selected for the RMFL representative teams in the games against the Hills League last Sunday. Although the results didn’t go our way, the experience of competing at this higher level will enhance our competition and prepare players for greater challenges going ahead.

Our A’s got the job done on Saturday over Imperials but it wasn’t a pretty game. Scores were hard to come by however we put the goals on the board when it counted to come away from Johnstone Park with the points. CG presented well in front of goals and finished with 3 majors. Buttsy chipped in with a couple of important goals. The Duke was awesome all around the park to gain best on ground honours. Dazza and Brissla Thiele worked well in repelling the Blues attacks. Muffy and Clint gave us plenty of run through the middle.
Our Reserves racked up another impressive win against our old foes. Sykesy was a handy inclusion to the team and grabbed a 7 goal haul in our tally of 14. Kheenan and Harry were our other multiple goal scorers with 2 each. Best on ground went to J-Rad with Kheenan, Kerls, Riley and Darcy also amongst our best.
The 17’s team were undermanned against an impressive Blues side who will be hard to stop this season. Jack, Alex and Sean all scored a goal each in this game. Our better players for the match were Nathan, Cody and Daniel. Keep up the effort guys and the results will come.
Rambler Junior Colts turned the tables on Imperials with a big win. Ten players contributed to our goal tally, with Lual’s 4 goals being the highest individual tally. Best players were hard to pick but special mentions go to Bailey, Keynan, Vincent, Hayden and Jaree. After the first two games, Ramblers hold top spot on the ladder in this grade with an amazing percentage of 99.55%.
Well done to the organisers of the President’s Ball last Saturday. It was a great way to get our season officially underway in what we hope will be another big year for the Club.

Ramblers League team have gotten their season off to a winning start with a comprehensive 62 point win over Mannum at home in the Grand Final replay game. Ramblers played great team football to totally outclass The Roos. Four players have made their league debut for Ramblers this round. New recruits James Elliott and Tyson Mills impressed the selectors to make the cut for the team. As well, several of our home-grown juniors, Jack Lewis and David Wilson Jr. (Minya), were promoted for this opening game. Congratulations to you all. We know you will wear the red and white proudly.
Patrick O’Neil had a day out to lead our goal-kicking with 5 majors. Alex Button chipped in with 3 goals and Clint Walker scored a couple of great running goals. Matt Thompson also kicked 2 goals in his return game. Our best players on the day were Wales, Paddy, Alex P, Pratty and Nelly.
The Reserves team scored a comfortable 93 point victory. Harry O kicked 5 of our goals, Jack Joy 4 goals and Jacob T scored 3. Deano played a blinder, Jack Joy was sensational, Darcy, Dutchy and Kerls rounded out our best players.
In the Under 17.5 game, our boys found the going tough against a talented Roos team but didn’t let up. Minya kicked 3 of our 4 goals and was one of our better players. Keynan, Jack Lewis, Seth and Mika all fought bravely until the final siren.
The Under 15 team looked in good touch and dominated Mannum 103 to 0. Luke and Keynan both scored 3 goals with Bohdi adding 2 goals. Keynan had an outstanding day to be best afield in this grade to add to his team best award from the Senior Colts game.
As Round 2 for us is a bye and then with Easter to follow, we look ahead to our next matches against Imperials at Johnstone Park on April 22.

Ramblers are 2016 RMFL Premiers in both the League and Reserves grades after the Grand Finals played at Mannum last Saturday. Our Under 15 side were unsuccessful in their attempt to complete the trifecta, finishing their season as runners-up. With our Senior Colts finishing in 3rd position and with the Under 13s team being runners-up in their Carnival Grand Final, the year has been highly successful for our Club. The seeds have been sown for us to grow on this success. We look to prosper further in the coming years with the great playing group, coaches and support staff we have in place.
In the Grand Final game, the League team faced Mannum and were fiercely challenged throughout the first half. Ramblers took a 11 point lead into the long break. The Roosters unloaded in the third quarter scoring 7 goals to 1, setting up a healthy 49 point advantage with just a quarter to play. Our boys were able to slow down the play and not allow Mannum to cut into this lead. It was a superb win to complete a faultless season. The Bohdan Cybulka Medal for best on ground in the final was presented to Simon Newchurch. Other players featuring in our best players were Jake, Clint, Paddy and Muffy. Jake bagged 6 goals with 3 each to Clint and Simmo. Liam and Duke also kicked a couple each.
Our Reserves team were gunning for their third straight premiership. Their opponent in the Grand Final game was Mypolonga who had fought their way through from 5th place at the end of the minor round. The Tigers proved to be a formidable opponent and kept the scoring tight through until three-quarter time. Ramblers held a slender 9 point advantage going into the last 20 minutes of the game. Our boys were able to step up and show their dominance to break away for a 35 point victory. The Reschke Medal for best player afield was awarded to Darren Hein for an outstanding game. Others to play well were Tyson Matthews, Paul Hein, Tyreen Gollan and Alex Button. Our main goal scorers were Alex, Tyreen and CG all with 2 goals.
Paechy’s Under 15s were also in action with the mission of stopping Imperial’s charge for the premiership cup. Imps jumped away to an early break to lead by over 6 goals at the first change. This left us chasing the lead all day but although our lads fought on bravely, the damage had been done. Ramblers struggled to make inroads into the lead and were defeated by 47 points. Best players for Ramblers were Mika Kedrayate, Cody Jackson, Hayden Carter, Callum Hutchesson and Tyson Bormann. Goals were kicked by Keynan, Kyle, Daniel, Alex and Griffin - all singles.
This year’s Annual General Meeting is to be held in the Ramblers Clubrooms on Friday 25 November.
Added 12/09/2016:
Grand Final day is almost here and Ramblers are proud to have three of our teams competing - League, Reserves and Under 15s. Each of the teams are committed to giving their all as they have done throughout the season. We look for lots of support and hope to have some success to celebrate Saturday night.
The League team have been outstanding all year and won their way into the Grand Final game by defeating Mannum in the Second Semi-Final. They will come up against Mannum again this Saturday and will be looking for a repeat of that result to cap off a great year.
Our Reserves team have also taken the direct route to the Grand Final but will be facing Mypolonga who we have not played since Round 8. Our boys are flying at the moment and are focused on having our name added to the 2016 Premiership Cup. A win will give us our third straight premiership in this grade.
In last Saturday’s Preliminary Final, Rambler Under 17.5s were outplayed to narrowly miss out on a Grand Final spot. They have finished their season in a highly commendable 3rd place. Ramblers took it up to Mypolonga in the first half and were trailing by just 5 points at half-time. The Tigers ran away with the game after the long break. Goals for Ramblers were scored by Jacob Trevorrow with 3 goals and Jack Lewis also kicked a goal. The best players were Seth Catford who has had a sensational season as well as Nash Calliss, Jacob Trevorrow, Nathan Modra and David Wilson.
The Under 15 match played last Saturday between Ramblers and Mannum promised to a tight contest based on recent games between these teams. There was just a point difference in our favour at half-time. With a grand final place on the line, our boys came through to outscore The Roos in each of the next 2 quarters to take the win by 16 points. Goal kickers were Noah Vivian 3, Alex Hein 2 with singles to Keynan Harradine, Lual Kelei and Kyle Watts. Our best players were Cameron Schubert, Daniel Altmann, Callum Hutchesson, Keynan Harradine and Noah Vivian. Our lads will this week come up against a powerful Imperials team who have had our measure so far this year. As we all know, finals football is a different challenge so believe in yourselves and we can get the job done.
Congratulations go to our B Grade netballers on their Grand Final win last weekend. Well done ladies.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 25/11/2016 in the Rambler Clubrooms.

What an amazing weekend it has been for our teams. Our League and Reserves sides have both won their way through to the Grand Final. The junior teams also won this week’s finals so they progress to the Preliminary Finals next Saturday for an opportunity to grab themselves a Grand Final berth.
The League team had a confident win against Mannum. They set up the win in the first quarter by taking advantage of a stiff breeze to kick 7.5 whilst keeping The Roos scoreless. Mannum cut into the lead in the second quarter but Ramblers matched this in the next term to take a 47 point lead into the final quarter. Although battling against the wind, Ramblers pushed through a further 4 goals to run away with the game. Muffy, Succers and Nelly all kicked 3 goals each to lead our scoring. Sammy and Jars played great captain’s games and were well supported by Liam, Clint and Simmo.
In the Reserves grade, Ramblers had too much firepower for Mannum and raced away to a 9 goal lead by half-time. The intensity dropped in the second half with Ramblers in control of the game and eased to a 69 point win. Leading goal scorers were CG with 5 goals, Buttsy with 3 and Tyson Matthews nailing a couple. Best players were Troy, Alex, Harry, Hurf and CG.
The 17’s played their game of the year in knocking Imperials out of the finals race. The 5 point victory was well deserved and is a great confidence booster for the team as they now look to qualify for the Grand Final. The match was close throughout with Ramblers having their nose in front when the final siren went. Jack Lewis kicked 4 goals, Minya 3, Keynan 2 with singles to Brayden and Matty. Our best player votes went to Minya, Jacob, Seth, Jack Howell and Matt.
In the Under 15 grade, we had a comfortable 35 point win against Mypolonga. Contributing to our scoring were Keynan with 3 goals, Noah 2, Callum 2, Mitchell 1 and Jayden 1. The best players for Ramblers were Daniel, Keynan, Cameron, Hayden and Jack. This win sets up a rematch against Mannum with whom we have split the results over the last 2 clashes.

The finals are well underway with Ramblers having teams involved in all 4 football grades as well as each of the 12 netball grades. In this our 85th year, it is a good sign for the club to see such strength in our teams at every level.
Both the League and Reserves sides will match up against Mannum this round to determine which teams will book themselves a Grand Final berth. The Under 17½s and Under 15s play in Sunday’s Elimination Final with no second chance safety net. Both of these teams will need to keep winning to stay in the premiership hunt.
The senior teams sat out from games last weekend whilst the junior grades did their bit to progress through to this next round. The Under 17½s team were able to ensure a place in the Elimination Final with a decisive 70 point victory over Jervois. Ramblers put their nose in front by 21 points at the first change and were never headed from this point. Jack Lewis kicked 8 goals and David Wilson chipped in with 3 majors. Peter Tabe, Matty Brooks, Jacob Trevorrow, Glenn Woods, Mitch Pobke and Brayden Kartinyeri all contributed a goal each. Our best players on the day were Jacob, Minya, Seth, Matty and Jack Lewis. This team has developed immensely since their first few games of the year and are not ready to end their season yet.
Our Under 15 side fought out a tight game against Mannum. Ramblers had held a small advantage at each break but were over-run in the last quarter to go down narrowly by just 11 points. Rambler goal-kickers were Luke Crouch, Jayden Parker-Menzies, Noah Vivian, Lual Kelei, Daniel Altmann and Hayden Carter (all singles). The best players were Cameron Schubert, Griffin Sibley, Cody Jackson, Keynan Harradine and Daniel Altmann.
Best wishes to all of our teams as they focus on representing the Rambler jumper and doing the club proud throughut this finals series.
Added 26/08/2016:
Our congratulations go to Rambler young gun Keynan Harradine on winning this year’s Bryan Medal as RMFL best and fairest player in the Under 15 grade. Keynan shares the award with Jack Laube from Imperials with both players polling 25 votes. Keynan has moved into the Under 15 grade this season after being a member of our all-conquering Under 13 Carnival team from 2015. This has been a stellar season for Keynan, also being our leading goal-kicker for the year. Keynan had been named as best RMFL player in the inter-League clash against Hills Football League earlier in the season. Callum Hutchesson also polled exceptionally well in the count for this grade to be our next best vote getter, finishing with 10 votes.
In the Connolly Medal for Under 17½ grade, Matty Brooks polled 16 votes to finish just 2 votes behind the medal winners. Seth Catford was also prominent in the tally scoring 10 votes.
Well done to all players for your efforts so far this season. Let’s get together to show our support this weekend and cheer on our teams to further success.

It’s finals time again with all of our teams making the cut. Our League and Reserves sides have each grabbed the minor premiership so have earnt a week’s break to prepare for 2nd Semi-Final action. The Under 15s meet Mannum in Saturday’s Qualifying Final fixture to be played at Johnstone Park. Our Seniors Colts are playing to keep their season alive in Sunday’s Elimination Final against Jervois at Le Messurier Oval.
Last Saturday the League team continued their unblemished season with a 13 goal win against The Bluds. Ramblers had the game under control from the early stages but pushed their advantage after half-time to make sure they wouldn’t be headed. Liam O’Neil had a best on ground performance to celebrate his 200th league game. Liam has been a fantastic servant for our Club and this is a solid achievement. Jake added another 4 goals to his personal goal-kicking tally, bringing his overall season total to 77. Nelly and Alex P also got into the action with 3 goals each with Alfie bagging 2 goals.
Our Reserves team closed out the minor round with another good win. Tex was amongst the goals with 3 and Darcy with 2 goals but again there were a wide spread of contributors. Best players were Hassa with his great rebounding as well as Darcy, Dutchy, Jacko and Tex.
The Under 17½ game provided an interesting result even though the final ladder positions of both sides had been determined prior to the game. Ramblers were leading late in the match when their score was cancelled due to an interchange indiscretion. These teams will be fighting it out again in the Elimination Final this round so this will be the game that really matters.
Junior Colts have chalked up a 12 goal win to conclude their minor round. Connor kicked 4 goals and Luke 3 to lead the game goal-kickers. Our better players were Griffin, Daniel, Mika, Conner and Cameron.
Well done to our Under 13 squad in your efforts at the Junior Carnival. After losing the opening game, the boys played superbly to make it through to the final. The future of the club looks very promising with the calibre of footballers coming through our ranks. A lot of credit goes to the coaching staff with your commitment in nurturing these lads.

This week’s road trip to Jervois will complete the home and away rounds and we look with excitement towards the finals series. With both of our senior teams having locked in top spot, our first League and Reserves finals games will be at this venue on September 3 so there is still a lot that we can learn and gain from Saturday’s games.
Our League team was again sensational last round in thumping The Roos by 81 points. Mannum had the early running in this game but once the Rooster machine kicked into gear, they were unstoppable. Succers bagged 9 goals with Alex Pfeiffer and Payney kicking 3 goals each. Wales was in great touch along with Succers, Nelly, Alex and Brissla although there wasn’t a passenger in a good team performance.
The Reserves were clinical in putting Mannum away by over 10 goals. The game was virtually over at quarter time when Ramblers led 6.4 to 0.1. There was a wide spread of goal kickers with main contributors being Tex, Darcy, Josh and Tyson Matthews, all with 2 goals. Our best players were Harry, Woodsy, Ricky, Cam and Tex.
Senior Colts had a tough assignment against the ladder leader. Our team battled bravely but Mannum were able to pull away the further the game progressed. Jack Lewis was our only multiple goal scorer with 2 goals and he played well along with Seth, Randall and both of the Nathans.
Under 15s had a confidence-boosting win against their likely Qualifying Final opponent. They led at every change to post a 21 point victory. Callum scored 3 goals to lead the game goal-kicking. Kyle and Hayden each bagged 2 goals. Best players were Griffin, Daniel, Keynan, Callum and Luke.

What a fabulous time we had last weekend for our 85th anniversary celebrations. It was a real endorsement of the work done, especially by our Life Members, in building the club into the great organisation we have today. Well done to the Reunion Committee with the time and effort you have put in towards the weekend. The new Life Members pavilion certainly looks fantastic.
To cap it all off, last Saturday our senior teams finished all over the top of our long-time rivals Imperials. The League team were superb in walking all over the Blues in their 15 goal victory. At the half-time break, 52 points were already separating the teams but Ramblers were miserly in keeping Imperials to just 1 goal in the second half in a great display. Best players were Patrick (3 goals), Matt, Jake (7 goals), Liam and Dale (5 goals).
The Reserves inflicted revenge from their last encounter against this opponent by downing The Blues by 52 points. The last change saw Ramblers in the lead by 10 points before racing away to score 6.6 to nil in the final quarter. Our best were Troy, Coby, Alex, Harry and Jack. Alex was our leading scorer with 3 goals, whilst Troy and Josh each added 2.
Imperials proved to be far too strong in the Under 17.5 grade and won by a big margin. Trying hard were Jack Lewis, Nathan, Amos, Jack Howell and Peter. Brayden contributed 2 goals with a goal each to Glenn and Amos.
The Under 15 game had a similar result with Imperials showing why they are the unbeaten side in the competition. The best players were Callum, Cody, Griffin, Daniel and Brayden. Our goals were spread between Noah (2 goals), Lual (2 goals) and Griffin (1 goal).
Next Saturday at our last home game is our annual Ladies Day to be held in the newly opened Life Members pavilion. All ladies are welcome to participate in an afternoon of pampering at $40.00 per person. All funds raised will be directed to the Cancer Council through our Relay for Life team.

With just a handful of games to go before the finals, our teams are showing some good form. This week all teams brushed off the cobwebs after our long break with massive wins over the Tailem Bend Eagles.
Our A’s were far too strong for Tailem, finishing big winners by 124 points. Major goal scorers were Sutcliffe with 10 goals, Dale Payne with 5 and Clint with 3. Simmo had another outstanding game along with Clint, Succers, Paddy and Brissla.
The Reserves side was loaded with talent and experience. They kept the Eagles scoreless for the game whilst amassing a total of almost 26 goals. Ten players contributed 2 or more goals each in our total score. The star performer was Ben Dougall in his first game in a year. Liam O’Neil was also dominant along with Muffy, Buttsy and Paechy.
Senior Colts gave Tailem a football lesson, scoring a 149 point victory. Seth kicked 7 goals to lead our goalkicking. Jacob scored 6, Minya 5, Amos 3 and Matty 3 as the other main contributors. Jack Lewis got the coach’s nod as Ramblers’ best player.
Paechy’s Under 15s also were winners by over 20 goals. Eleven players all chipped in with goals with highest individual tallies being from Keynan and Callum with 3 goals each. Best players in this game were Callum, Noah, Keynan, Daniel and Coby.

While many of us had a weekend free of football, 3 of our finest players were called up to play for the Murray South East (MSE) Zone team at the South Australian Country Football Championships. The MSE Zone team was comprised of players from the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara, Western Border, River Murray and Mid South East football leagues. The Championships were played in Port Lincoln on Saturday 9/7 and Sunday 10/7, with the MSE team going through the weekend unbeaten to claim the title. This was the Zone team’s 2nd success within the past 3 years.
Contributing to the victories were our Rambler representatives in Matt Altmann, Sam Pfeiffer and Alex Pfeiffer. All proved to be of significant value to the team and scored goals during the preliminary and final matches. Sam was given the honour of being selected in the “Team of the Championships”. A great effort from these players, you've made our Club and League proud.

Our League side has kept their winning streak intact with a 10-goal victory over Imperials at home last Saturday. Ramblers had the better of their opponents for the first 3 quarters but finished off with a last quarter burst of 8 goals to 2 to clinch the win. The Pfeiffers - Alex, Sam & Ty were amongst our best along with Jake, Simmo and Duke. Succers had a 5 goal game with Simmo (4 goals) and Alex Pfeiffer (3 goals) being our other major individual contributors.
The B’s had a tight, low scoring match against a determined Blues side. There were never more than a few goals between these teams throughout the game. Imps kept chipping away and were 5 points in front when the final siren blew. It was good to see the O’Neils Harry and Darcy back on the field as these players are valuable inclusions to the team. Our better players in this game were Wilbur, Riley, Ricky, Dutchy and Tyson Matthews.
The junior teams fought out their games but could not come up with wins. Under 17.5s fell short by 47 points. Best players were Seth, Jack, Minya, Nash and Nathan. Goal kickers were Seth with 3 goals, Minya with 3 goals and Jack Lewis with 1 goal.
Our Junior Colts were defeated by 45 points with Keynan kicking 2 goals, Daniel 2 goals and Luke 1 goal. Playing well for Ramblers were Callum, Cody, Griffin, Cameron and Mika.
We now go into a 3-week break with both Senior sides having a firm hold on top spot, Under 17.5s now in 4th place and Under 15s moving to 3rd position on the table.

Ramblers have opened a handy break at the top of the League table by defeating Mannum last Saturday. We outscored The Roos in each of the first 3 quarters to take a 31 point lead into the last quarter. Mannum made a charge in the last term but Ramblers held strong to win by 16 points. Best players were Jars, Alex Pfeiffer, Brissla Thiele, CG, Sam and The Duke. Our major goal kickers were Clint with 3 and with 2 goals each to Duke and CG.
The Reserves side has continued on their winning way with a 35 point victory. The game was tight for the first 3 quarters with just 3 points separating the teams at 3-quarter time. The Roosters surged in the last term, kicking 5.2 to nil. Our best players were Wilbur, Tex, Speedy, Jacko and Tyson. Lambey was our main scorer with 3 goals. Dutchy and Tex kicked 2 goals each with singles to Speedy and Tyson.
The Under 17.5 match was interrupted with a serious injury where ambulance attendance on the oval was required. The game was subsequently shortened, with the undefeated Mannum team kicking away to win by a big margin. Our best wishes go to Jake Tilley as he takes a break from the game to recuperate from his injuries. Ramblers’ best 5 in this match were Seth, Nathan, Nash, Jonny and Mitchell.
It was 2nd against 3rd in the Junior Colts with Mannum leading by 1 point at the main break. The Roos nudged away in the second half to gain victory by 3 goals. The goal scorers for Ramblers were Daniel with 2 goals and a goal each to Cameron and Lual. Our best players were Jordon, Hayden, Cody, Callum and Daniel.

We enter Round 12 of the River Murray Football League season in good shape with our League and Reserves teams both looking to continue their unblemished starts to the year. The challenge really heats up this week as we face up against the Mannum Roos on their home deck.
It was another clean sweep for all of our teams last Saturday, although Jervois made us fight hard to gain the premiership points especially in the senior grades. The League side had a tight tussle with The Bluds and were just 7 points in front going into the last quarter. Ramblers put the foot on the pedal and scored 6.9 to 1.0 in the last quarter to seal the victory. CG scored 4 goals, with 3 goals to Simmo and 2 goals to Jake, Alex B and Alex P. Simmo’s game was a real standout and he had strong support from Paddy, CG and the Pfeiffer boys Sam and Alex.
The Reserves had their closest contest of the year, escaping with a 20 point win after chasing the lead for much of the game. Campbell held strong in the backlines. Our running players Tex, Brandon, Tyson and Towball all showed good form and contributed to our victory. Heath was our high scorer with 3 goals along with the Pratt brothers Tyson and Thomas each kicking 2 goals.
Senior Colts had to shake off a determined Jervois side who were always a chance until late in the game. Amos kicked 5 big goals, with 3 goals by Matty and 2 from Keynan. Our best players were Matty, Seth, Amos, Nathan and Peter.
The Under 15 team have chalked up another win, easily getting over their opponents. Jervois were restricted to a single goal for the game whilst Ramblers kicked 12.14, resulting in an 80 point win for The Roosters. Main goal scorers were Keynan with 3, Mitch with 2 and Alex with 2. The best players for Ramblers were Hayden, Cody, Luke, Tyson and Keynan.
The Goods and Services Auction is taking place after our home game against Imperials. The auction will commence after the player presentations and teas are out of the way. This event is a major fundraiser for Ramblers so come along for a bit of fun and to support the club.

For Round 10 last Saturday we hosted the Tailem Bend Eagles. It proved to be another great day for our club with each of our teams securing the premiership points and gaining valuable percentage. All Rambler teams had winning margins in excess of 100 points each.
Our League side narrowly won their first round encounter against Tailem Bend but this time showed no mercy in swamping The Eagles by over 28 goals. With the added incentive of wanting to make Ty Pfeiffer’s 150th League appearance a memorable one, Ramblers went on a scoring spree having 13 separate goal kickers for the game. Multiple scorers were Succers with 6 goals, CG 4, Butts 3, Ty 3, Simmo 3, Paddy 2 and Clint 2. Best players were listed as Simmo, Paddy, Sam, Jars and Succers.
In the B’s, Tailem Bend were competitive for the first quarter but didn’t trouble the scorers after the break with Ramblers romping to a 107 point victory. Heath kicked 5 goals which was his 5th week in a row contributing 5 or more individual goals. Lambey also had a 5 goal game and Elph kicked 2. It was another complete team effort with special mentions to Dasher, Tyson, Tom, Ricky and Lambey.
There was also a big effort from the Under 17.5s in recording a 147 point win. We had goal kickers galore with the main ones being Matty 6, Minya 5, Jacob 4, Seth 3, Jonny 3, and Peter 2. There were great games by Matty, Jack Lewis, Seth, Minya and Jack Howell.
Rounding out this report is the Under 15s match where Ramblers were too skilful for The Eagles. Our goals were kicked by Lual 6, Jayden 4, Daniel 2, Tyson 2 with another 6 single goal scorers. Best players were named as Hayden, Kyle, Conner, Jayden and Lual.

The mid-season trek to Meningie is always a challenging affair but Ramblers were up to the test last Saturday in coming home as winners in all games. The A’s got up by 8 points with the other grades all scoring big wins of around 100 points each.
Our League side continued with their winning streak by securing an emphatic victory against a quality team. The turning point of this game was Ramblers’ great 3rd quarter where we held Meningie to a single point whilst scoring 4.5 ourselves. This allowed Ramblers to turn for home with a 2 goal margin and then did enough in the final quarter to hold out an ever dangerous opponent. Major goal scorers were Tyreen with 3 goals plus CG and Paddy each kicking 2 goals. Our best players were Moose with his big defensive effort as well as Sammy, Alfie, Simmo and Josh.
The Reserves have knocked out another big win, restricting The Bears to a single goal. Heath kicked truly for another 5 goal haul. Coby added 3 of his own, with Kiya, Tom, Woodsy and Carson all kicking 2. Elph and Tex also got into the action with a goal each. Ramblers best players on the day were Kiya, Dutchy, Luke Williams, Jackson and Ty.
In the Senior Colts, Ramblers returned to the winners list against an undermanned Bears team. David Wilson kicked 14 goals against his former team. Other multiple goal kickers were Brooksy with 5 and Jack Lewis kicking 2 majors. Our best players were Minya, Nash, Jack Lewis, Seth and Peter.
The Under 15s game was also a Rooster rampage. Lual scored 4 goals, Keynan 3, Jayden 3 and Daniel 2 plus there were a swag of single goal kickers. The coach’s votes in this match went to Luke, Jayden, Brayden, Lual and Mitch.
This week’s Social Club event is the Rump and Red Dinner. Acoustic music will be provided by Jake Daulby. Many thanks to the function sponsors in Thomas Foods, Barolo’s and Yalumba Wines. Bookings are to be made through Mel Mullins: phone 0400 269 094 or email mmullins2008@hotmail.com

Ramblers great start to the season has continued with both A’s and B’s taking their winning tallies to 7 from 7. Our junior teams had tough assignments against some talented Mypolonga sides and were not able to add to their totals.
The League team were very impressive in disposing of The Tigers by over 14 goals. Clint was a livewire, finishing with 5 goals including some very classy efforts. Succers was given special attention but still managed 4 majors. Paddy played a blinder and was well supported by Clint, Muffy, Alex Pfeif and Jars.
The B’s have continued on their winning way with a consistent 4-quarter game in downing Mypo by almost 100 points. Heath kicked a lazy 7 goals and was our most influential player. Others to do well were Dutchy, Hurf, Lukey and Dasher. Rambler’s favourite son, Troy Cowland, hit the field for the first time this year in his return to the red and white colours and showed some great form.
Our Under 17.5 team let Mypo jump away to a big lead early and this proved too much to pull back. To their credit, our boys outscored their opponents in the last quarter but the damage had been done. Daniel and Minya were our main goal kickers with 3 each. Best players were Seth, Nash, Minya and the 2 Jacks.
In the Junior Colts, we had the early running with an 11 point lead at half-time. Mypo powered ahead from this point, kicking the final 5 goals of the game to gain victory by 19 points. Alex Hein kicked 3 goals with singles to Brayden, Lual and Keynan. Playing well were Alex, Cody, Mitchell, Jack and Kane.

Ramblers have regained the Cawte / Norrish Trophy with their great win over Imperials in the League grade last Saturday. As we have the bye for this coming round, both senior teams go into the break in the enviable situation of being yet to lose a game. With these teams sitting on top of the premiership table, we are in a healthy position as we move into the middle stage of the season.
The League match was, as expected, a hard fought battle with arch rivals Imperials. We were 7 points down at quarter time with Imperials able to convert their opportunities into major scores. From this point, we were able to outscore our opponent for each of the next 3 quarters to come out winners by 33 points. Overall scoring shots were 31 to 13 in our favour so the margin could have been higher although the pressure applied by The Blues did not allow us easy shots at goal. Jake and Buttsy were our main scorers with 3 goals each. Other prominent players were Buttsy, Muffy, Sam, Woodsy and Moose.
Ramblers Reserves have again dominated by downing The Blues by over 10 goals. This was another match where the margin could have been much bigger. Scoring shots were 29 to 8 in our favour so this is something for the team to work on. Heath was strong up forward with another bag of 5 goals. Our best players on the day were Coby, Luke, Aaron, Tom and Tex.
The 17.5s had a promising start against a strong Imperials team with just an 11 point deficit at quarter time. The Blues upped their intensity from this point and powered away in the last 3 quarters to set up a 133 point win. Best players for Ramblers were David, Brayden, Callum and Jack Lewis.
The Junior Colts had a tough task, coming up against the ladder leaders. They fought bravely but Imps had too much firepower and secured the win by 76 points. Our goals (all singles) were scored by Callum, Brayden and Lual. Best players were Griffin, Jordon, Cameron, Vincent and Luke.
A big thank you to the families who hosted guests for the Progressive Dinner last Saturday night. The McFees, Hampels and Marchettis all put on a great meal. Thanks to everyone involved in the planning and running of the event.

What a wonderful showcase it was for the RMFL at Le Messurier Oval last Saturday. With 2 previously undefeated teams in Ramblers and Mannum doing battle, it was a match that promised a lot and didn’t disappoint football fans.
In a sensational result, Ramblers League side got home by just 1 point in a match which was in the balance until the final siren sounded. Muffy was in vintage form and got good support from Simmo, Woodsy, Alex Pfeiffer and Brissla. Other players also played roles in keeping their dangerous Mannum opponents in check. Major goal kicker was CG with 4 goals plus other multiple goal scorers being The Duke, Clinton and Alex Pfeiffer, all with 2 goals each.
The Reserves game also featured unbeaten teams eager to keep their winning streaks going. Ramblers again combined well and were untroubled in getting the points over Mannum by almost 10 goals. Heater kicked 5 valuable goals in his first run of the year. Luke Williams was handed the rucking duties and played superbly, gaining best on ground honours. Heater, Tex, Tyson Pratt and Ty all put in great games along with many others who made big contributions in the win.
Our junior grades did not fare so well. In the 17.5s game, Ramblers were under siege from the start of the match and went down by a big margin. Games by Matty, Nathan, Brayden, David and Seth were worthy of mention. Kicking 1 goal each were David, Brayden and Jack Lewis.
The Junior Colts had their first hiccup of the year, with a 17 point loss but were far from disgraced. In a low scoring game, Lual kicked 3 goals and Noah added 1. Rambler’s best players were Luke, Keynan, Jordon, Vincent and Lual.
This week’s games are against our local rivals Imperials and promise to be very competitive. Let’s show support to all of our teams and bring back some wins for the Club. Our congratulations go to The Blues in reaching the 50 year milestone for games at Johnstone Park.
The Social Club activity for this week is the Progressive Dinner. Meet at the Rambler Clubrooms at 6.30pm which will allow time to mingle with our Imperials hosts after the games for some refreshments.

The last round was another great one for our club with all 4 teams winning their games against The Bluds. This was the third successive round where we have had all of our teams coming out as winners.
This week we come up against Mannum who have had an equally strong start to the year and also are unbeaten in 3 grades. It will be a tough ask to repeat the success for a fourth straight week but with our confidence building, we look towards making 2016 as a standout year for this club.
In the last round, the League side put in a powerful display to easily account for Jervois. With a 15 goal to 3 lead at half-time, the intensity was eased for the second half and Ramblers went on to record an 18 goal win. Jake Sutcliffe was unstoppable, kicking 11 goals in our tally and CG was also active around the goal front with 3 goals. In their League debuts, Clinton Walker and Simon Newchurch both featured amongst the best players along with Succers, Paddy and Moose.
The Reserves again were untroubled in accounting for Jervois by 11 goals. With good numbers in the senior teams this year, team rotations were again made for this match but this did not seem to upset the team balance. Major goal kickers were Tyson Matthews with 3 goals along with Tex and Buttsy both booting 2 majors. Our best players were Buttsy, Jacko, Tex, Ty and Dazza. Our best wishes go to Riley Vanson after he was forced from the game early due to some nasty injuries. All the best with your recovery Riley.
In the closest game of the day, Rambler Under 17.5s overcame a Jervois fightback to get home by 14 points. Jonny kicked a total of 4 goals including the last 2 crucial goals to ice the game after Jervois closed to within 1 point well into the final quarter. Mods with 3 goals and Seth with 2 were the other multiple goal scorers.
Our Junior Colts scored a commanding 101 point win, keeping The Bluds to just 1 goal for the match. Principal goal scorers were Keynan and Tyson, both with 5 goals as well as Griffin with 2 goals. The best players in this game were Vincent, Callum, Keynan, Conner and Noah.
Looking ahead in the social calendar, Saturday 7th May will be the Progressive Dinner. We will keep you informed about the finer details of this event through our Club website and in the Facebook posts.

The last round again produced some good results for our club. For the 2nd successive week, all 4 of our main teams have secured the maximum premiership points with wins.
In the late game, the League team had first use of the breeze and finished the first quarter with 5.2 whilst keeping Tailem Bend scoreless. The Eagles hit back to close within 9 points at the long break. The second half was low scoring with just 7 goals kicked and Ramblers held on to secure victory by 17 points. Our dominant players were Sammy, Alex and Muffy. Jake kicked 3 useful goals with Paddy, CG and Pratty each kicking 2 goals.
Rambler Reserves compiled another good win by 77 points. Very few opportunities were given to their opponents who were kept to 3.3 for the entire game. Simon Newchurch was exceptional in his first game back in the red and white. Dasher, Tex, Jackson and Kerls also put in great games. Our major goalkickers were Tex and Tyson Matthews with 3 goals each, with support from Tyson Pratt, Simon and Jackson each adding 2 goals.
The Under 17.5s powered to a 19 goal win. The second quarter was a spectacle, with Ramblers kicking 10 goals whilst making full use of the wind advantage. Jacob amassed 12 goals and Matty chipped in with 4 goals. Strong games were had by Jack Howell, Jack Lewis, Jacob, Matty and Seth.
The Under 15s are taking all before them this year and compiled a clinical 167 point win. Tailem Bend were not able to trouble the scorers. Keynan Harradine, in his first season up from the 13s, kicked 12 of our goals. Tyson and Griffin both added 3 goals. Best players were Callum, Keynan, Mika, Daniel and Jayden.
We welcome all football lovers back to our Clubrooms after this week’s games for presentations. Teas will be available at very reasonable prices. Stay around also for the Players Calcutta where there is sure to be competitive bidding for the groups on offer.

Last Saturday we hosted our first home games for the year and it was a perfect outcome for the club. All grades from Under 9s through to League had resounding wins in their matches against the Meningie Bears.
The League contest started fiercely with teams going goal for goal. Ramblers increased their workload by upping their defensive pressure to force turnovers and were able to capitalise on the scoreboard. By three-quarter time, Ramblers were leading by almost 10 goals but allowed Meningie to peg back some of this advantage in kicking 4 of the last 5 goals. The margin at the final siren was 40 points. Best players for the game included Sam, Muffy, Jarrad, Alex and Neil.
In another strong showing by the Bs, they won every quarter to score an 11 goal victory. It was a complete team performance, with best contributors being Dasher, Jacob, Ricky, Tyson and Thomas. Butts, Tyson and Tex again added to their individual goal tallies.
The Senior Colts have broken through for their first win, thrashing Meningie by 101 points. The Reds dominated from the outset and did not let their opponents into the game. Jacob kicked 8 goals along with Mathew and Johnny scoring 5 goals each. Seth put in another blinder of a game and was supported by Mathew, Brayden, Jack Lewis and Nash. All other players chipped in as needed.
In the earlier game, Rambler Under 15s outscored The Bears by 15 goals to 1 to record a strong 93 point victory. Both Tyson and Noah bagged 4 goals each with Keynan kicking 2 goals as well. Best of a good group were Tyson, Hayden, Luke, Keynan and Vincent.

We have kicked off the season last week with good road wins for the League, Reserves and Under 15 grades and now look to consolidate for the rest of the year.
In last week’s A grade game, Ramblers held a 16 point advantage at half-time but powered away in the second half to push this margin out to 63 points at the final siren. Jake Sutcliffe made an emphatic return to the side with 5 goals and paired well with Matt Altmann who kicked 4. Both created headaches for their Mypo defenders. Best players in the game also included Alex, Brad and Miller in his return game.
The Reserves opened strongly and kept their lead all day to push out to a 40 point win. Coby showed his presence with an influential game and was well supported by Hurf, Riley, Darren and Wegs. Multiple goal scorers were Tyson 4, Butts 3 and Tex 2.
Tony’s Senior Colts had a tough assignment against a very strong Tigers team. They took a while to gel and went into the long break chasing a 56 point deficit. The boys were almost able to match it with their opponents in the second half but went down by 64 points overall. There were a lot of promising signs with this young team. Jacob, Matt, Seth, Jack Lewis and Nash were our best 5 players on the day.
The 15s set up their 22 point victory with an outstanding 3rd quarter where they scored 4.3 whilst keeping Mypo scoreless. Game goal kickers were Noah and Jesse with 2 goals each, along with singles to Alex, Tyson and Hayden. Best player selections were Keynan, Daniel, Hayden, Cameron and Callum.
Congrats go to our A grade netball ladies who also opened their season with a superb win.
Well done to the organisers of the President’s Ball. The venue looked amazing and the food platters were outstanding. By all accounts it was a great night overall. Be sure to check out the arrival photos in our Photo Gallery.

Former multiple League Premiership player Mark “Rumbles” Rumbelow has made the transition to SANFL with his League debut last Saturday, playing for Central Districts. Rumbles has been based in the Barossa, Light & Gawler League for the past few seasons due to his employment in this region. He took home a further premiership medallion last season whilst playing for Nuriootpa Rovers. We wish him well for a long & successful career in the big league.
The Social Club’s first big event of the year is the President’s Ball this Saturday night. There is a Mexican Fiesta theme so come along and join in the atmosphere to welcome in the new season. We are playing away at Mypolonga in this first round so the ball will commence at 7.30pm. Cost is $20.00 per person and there will be a DJ. See the flyer under “Coming Events” for more information.

It was another strenuous Doc’s Challenge held last Friday night. As usual there were many physical tests for those competing and there were sure to be some sore bodies the next morning. It was especially great to see the large number of under-age players giving it a go and pushing themselves to the limit. We really appreciate the hospitality of Martin & Fiona Altmann who have now supported this event for many years. It certainly was a wonderful night so our thanks go to the Docs as well as the organisers and everyone involved in set-up, food preparation, cooking, manning stations and other roles. We look forward to continuing this pre-season tradition well into the future.
This Saturday we will be having trial games against Langhorne Creek Hawks at Le Messurier Oval. Games have been arranged for Under 15’s at 10.00am and Under 17.5’s at 11.30am. The senior grades will have a hit-out from around 1.00pm. The BBQ shed will be open all day with food and drink available.

Ramblers have added to their trophy cabinet by securing the Reserves Premiership for 2015 with a resounding 15 point win against Imperials. The victory completes back-to-back titles for the team.
Imperials started the game better, scoring the first goal of the match. Ramblers settled and hit back, kicking the next 3 goals to take a 13 point lead into the quarter time break. The Blues cut the lead back to 10 points by half time, and further reduced the advantage to just 3 points at the last change.
The game was set up for an exciting finish. Ramblers showed their dominance in the last 20 minutes, scoring 3 goals to 1 and securing victory.
Game goal scorers were Alex 2, Muffy 2, Woodsy 2, Dylan 1, Dutchy 1 and Brandon 1. Best players were Dylan, Harry, Dazza, Buttsy and Kerls.
Dylan Molnar was awarded the Reschke Medal as best on field in the Grand Final.

Ramblers are proud to be hosting this Saturday’s Grand Final games. We will be represented in the Reserves grade where we will battle it out against traditional rivals Imperials. Head to head results are two wins each this year but the Grand Final match is the one that really matters.
Our boys have been in good form coming into this match and are keen to ramp up their intensity for the biggest game of the year. The quest for back-to-back premierships is just one win from being achieved and what better way to do this than on our home ground.
Coach Randall Cocks, in his first year with our club, has moulded these players physically and mentally into a formidable combination with a determination to do our club proud. The strength of the playing group shows in the Lokan Medal voting where 20 players polled votes throughout the year.
Let’s be loud and proud in showing our support for the team. Win or lose, join them after the game in the Clubrooms to celebrate their brilliant year.
A big thank you to each of the committees at Ramblers as without them none of our teams would make it onto the oval each week. Thanks also to our wonderful sponsors for their support and to the tireless volunteers who do their bit week in, week out.
Congratulations go to our netball ladies who brought back 3 pennants from their 3 Grand Finals last week. The winning grades were Intermediates, 17 & Under and 13 & Under Division 1. Best On Court awards went to Jazmin-May Callaghan (Intermediates), Kedeisha Kartinyeri (17 & Under) and Lucy O’Neil (13 & Under Division 1).

Our League team are now out of the finals race by going down to Mypolonga last Sunday. Ramblers kicked against a strong breeze in the first quarter and did reasonably well to restrict Mypolonga to 3.2 whilst adding 2.0 of our own, but lost Lloyd McIntyre due to injury. The Tigers were able to add 4 goals in each of the second and third quarters to hold a 37 point advantage at three-quarter time. Ramblers put up a challenge to Mypolonga in the final quarter but could only score 1.7 to 1.1 and fell short by around 5 goals. Our best players were Brissla, Liam, Ty, Matt, Greeny and Sam.
It was a powerful win for our B’s with a disciplined display of finals footy. The team won every quarter and were well led by our backmen who smothered their opponents to restrict The Blues to a low total. Up forward, Butts, Tyson and Lambey put handy goal scores on the board to allow us to push to a 50 point win. We will go into the Grand Final with confidence having given ourselves the opportunity to defend the title playing on our home deck. Best players in the Semi Final were Darren, Harry, Dutchy, Jake and Alex.
As we do not have any of our footy teams playing this Saturday, please show your support to our netball girls competing in their Grand Finals. Three teams are representing the red and white. At 11.00am, both the 13 & Under Division 1 and the 17 & Under teams are playing. Their opponent in both games is Tailem Bend. At 1.45pm in the Intermediates grade, we take on Mypolonga for the title. Let’s show some of that Rooster fight and bring home some pennants.
The football Grand Final is being hosted by Ramblers. There are many tasks to be done in the lead up and on the day. If you have not already done so, please support your club by volunteering to help out. Contact any of the current committee if you are able to assist.

We were greeted at Jervois Oval with reasonable weather aside from strong winds to open our finals campaign last Sunday. Our League side came out on top with a superb win but unfortunately the season is over for both of our junior grades.
Our A’s had first use of a gusty breeze and were able to make good use of their opportunities to post 4.5 to Meningie’s 0.3 by the first break. Although unable to add to our score in the 2nd quarter, we were able to consistently bottIe up play and restrict The Bears to 1.3 to take a 17 point lead into half-time. Ramblers boosted their lead to 29 points with a quarter to play and were determined not to allow Meningie to break open the game. The Bears scored the first 2 goals of the last quarter but Thommo slotted through the only goal to be scored at the northern end in the entire game and this set up an unassailable lead. Ramblers’ best players on the day were Lloyd, Liam. Mitch, Alex and Andy. Goal kickers were Andy 2, Thommo 2, Liam, Jacob and Pratty.
In the earlier Senior Colts game, Ramblers were playing catch-up footy all day. Although battling out the game to the end, we fell short by 19 points. Our best performers were Brandon, Jyron, Tom, Lucas and Seth. Our goals were scored by Tom with 2 goals plus singles to Seth, Lucas, Jyron, Joardyn and Mathew.
The Under 15 game was claimed by Meningie with a 25 point margin. Meningie were able to make better use of the strong breeze throughout the game. Playing well were Jonathon, Seth, Braydon, Jackson and Cameron Schubert. Ramblers’ goals were kicked by Cameron Zadow, Jonathon, Keynan and Mitch.
The Reserves will play Imperials in the 2nd Semi Final at Mypolonga Oval this Saturday 12/09 for a chance to go direct into the Grand Final. The League side will meet Mypolonga in the 1st Semi Final at Mannum Oval on Sunday 13/09 in a sudden death match. Presentations and teas will be held back at the Rambler clubrooms after the League game.
Rambler Netball Club has 3 teams competing in the Preliminary Finals being paid this Saturday 12/09 at Mypolonga.
11.00am - 17 & Under vs Mannum
12.30pm - C Grade vs. Mypolonga
1.45pm - Intermediate vs Tailem Bend
Show your support for these teams as they battle to gain a place in the Grand Finals on 19/09 at Johnstone Park. Congratulations to the 13 & Under Division 1 team who have already secured a place in the Grand Final by winning last weekend.
The AGMs for both the RFC Colts and the Rambler Football Club are being held on Friday 27 November. Our last minor round games were played away against Meningie. The League team were in the hunt all day but couldn’t quite get the job done. The 22 point losing margin shows improvement from earlier games in the year against this opponent. The belief is there that we can take it right up to Meningie in this Elimination Final and avenge last year’s Grand Final result. Best players for the game were Sammy, Thommo, Greeny, Tyreen and Mitch. Goges was our only multiple goal kicker with 2 goals.
Reserves came away with another strong win by almost 10 goals. Our defensive players were standouts in restricting The Bears to just 2 goals for the match. The best players list featured Harry, Sam, Dutchy, Dasher and Paul. Tyson and Alex also stood up in front of goals with bags of 4 and 3 goals respectively.
The 17.5s didn’t fare so well, losing by a big margin. The guys should put this loss behind them and regroup for their sudden death match against Imperials. Best in our last game were Tex, Jyron, Brandon, Peter and Brooksy.
Under 15s fell away in the second half of the game to experience a 75 point defeat. Trying hard were Brayden, Mitch, Jordon, Jackson and Seth. Goal scorers were Mika with 2 goals and Cameron Schubert with 1 goal. The team face Meningie again in today’s final so they know they will need to put together 4 good quarters to turn around the result.
Congratulations to our Under 13s team on their fantastic win in the carnival. This side is well coached by Dale Bald and the win caps off a wonderful year for these boys. Ramblers are truly proud of your efforts.
It’s great to have all 4 Rambler teams through to the finals series. Well done to our Reserves side who have secured the minor premiership so have a bye for the first week of the finals. Their next game is on Saturday 12/09/2015 at Mypolonga Oval and we will be playing the winner of the Imperials vs. Jervois game.
Our other 3 football teams are playing this weekend, all in the Eliminations Finals at Jervois on Sunday 06/09/2015. The Under 15s game is from 10.00am against Meningie. Under 17.5s commence around 11.10am and we are competing against Imperials. The League game is scheduled for 2.30pm versus Meningie. These are all sudden death finals so we need lots of supporters at Jervois Oval to cheer these teams along.
The netballers are also competing.
On Saturday at Meningie we have:
13 & Under Div 1 vs. Tailem Bend at 11.00am
17 & Under vs. Tailem Bend at 11.00am
On Sunday at Jervois, we have:
13 & Under Div 2 vs. Mannum at 8.30am
15 & Under Div 2 vs. Imperials at 8.30am
11 & Under vs. Mannum at 9.45am
C Grade vs. Meningie at 12.30pm
Intermediate vs. Imperials at 1.45pm

Last week we faced Mannum in our last home game of the year. Although we were not able to improve our table position in League ranks, there was still opportunity for us to influence the final make-up of the premiership table. Our boys had a good start to the game and led by 11 points at the half-time break. Mannum jumped into gear to take over the lead by 21 points before a couple of late Rambler goals closed the gap to 9 points with a quarter to play. Ramblers goaled again but The Roos then piled on the last 5 goals of the game to take the points. Ramblers’ best players were Sam, Stuart, Lloyd, Doogs and Matt. Jack Joy “Tex” was unleashed for his League debut.
The Ressies side scored a 63 point victory to secure the minor premiership. It was another dominant display but I feel this team is holding back their best football for a finals assault. There was great work by Dutchy, Dazza, Brad, Molnar and Jake. Alex Button again provided a target in front of goals and finished with a tally of 5 majors. Molnar and Chetts each kicked 2 goals.
In the Under 17s, Mannum were too classy and powered away to win by 110 points. Our best players were Jyron, Jarrad, Tom, Brandon and Nathan. Goal scorers for the game were Tom, Daniel, Jacko, Jacob and Matt.
Mannum also outplayed us in the 15s grade to win by 39 points. All tried hard but our better players were Cameron Zadow, Jonathon, Connor, Jacko and Jake. There were 6 individual goal kickers.
The Under 13 Carnival is being hosted by our club this Sunday. Make an effort to come along and support our young players as these are the future of our Club. Don’t forget to wear your red gear and cheer long and hard for all participants. Best of luck to all teams.
To conclude the minor round, we have the Reverse Raffle back at the clubrooms after this Saturday’s games. These tickets are usually hot sellers at $15 each and are limited to 300 tickets so get in quick. The ticket price includes your entry for cash prizes, a meal and around 90 minutes of selected beer and soft drinks. For more information, contact Heath Nankivell.

Last week we welcomed back our SANFL players and their inclusion lifted us to a brilliant 27 point win over the Tigers. The victory was set up in the third quarter by scoring 4.6 to 0.1 to allow us to turn for home with a 3 goal advantage. Best players were Liam, Matt, Greeny, Thommo and Alfie. Multiple goal scorers were The Duke 3, Thommo 3 and Doogs with 2. This match was Mitch Vanson’s 100th senior game for the club, a fabulous achievement. Mitch is one of 4 sets of brothers playing in our League side at present – Mitch & Riley Vanson, Tyreen & Alfie Gollan, Matt & Will Altmann as well as the Pfeiffer trio of Ty, Alex & Sam.
Our Bs held off a determined Mypo team to gain the 2 premiership points and retain top place on the ladder. Speedy proved a handful for his opponents and was well backed up by Keedan, Josh and William. Alex Button slotted 2 handy goals.
The junior grades were up against some very strong Mypolonga sides. The 17s were on even terms at quarter time but were then overpowered to lose by 62 points. Seth, Thatch, Jacob, James and Nathan were our standouts.
In the earlier game, the Junior Colts succumbed by 13 goals to the unbeaten Mypo team. Our best players in this match were Seth, Jayden, Jonathon, Jordon and Mitch Eckert. Goal kickers (all singles) were Brayden McDonald, Kez, Tyson, Griffin and Jackson.
Next weekend Ramblers will be hosting the Under 13s Carnival. Many hands make light work so please offer your support to ensure the smooth running of this great family day. The wind-up for the Under 7s, 9s and 11s will be held in the clubrooms during the afternoon.
This week's home game will see the retirement of our gate keeper Ross Pfeiffer after an amazing 35 years in the role. We will miss your smiling face Ross.

In last week’s League match for the Cawte / Norrish Cup, Imperials came out superior by 6 goals. We were in the hunt until midway through the last quarter but the Blues scored a barrage of goals to seal the game. Ramblers’ best players were Liam, Lloyd, Thommo, Greeny and Wales.
It was a battle of 1st versus 2nd in the Reserves. In a tight, low-scoring game Imps came from behind to hit the lead with the last goal of the game to pip us by 3 points. The match was halted in the final minute with Polky being assisted off the field due to a lower leg injury. Our best wishes go to him as he starts his recovery on the sideline. Our best players were Keedan, Dazza, Dutchy, Dylan and Muffy with goals to Tyson 3, Josh 2 and Harry 1.
Our 17s got on top of their opponent to record a 22 point victory. After a slow start to the year, Thommo has got this team firing. There were great performances by Jarrad, Lucas, Jack Joy, Jacob and Tyson. Goal kickers were Jack Joy 4, Jacob 3, Seth 2 and Nash 1.
The 15s battled bravely but went under by 43 points. Our best players in this game were Seth, Jackson, Mitch, Jack Lewis and Daniel. Our goal scorers were Seth, Mika, Brayden and Griffin (1 goal each).

Wth just 4 games of the minor round left to play, we prepare for some tough matches ahead although both senior teams have now secured a berth in this year’s finals series.
It was great to go into last week’s bye on the back of a perfect 4 wins from 4 games after our encounter with Jervois. The League team came out winners over the Bluds by 14 goals. Our young brigade of Neil, Tyreen, Thommo & Mitch served us well and Lloydy chipped in with great defensive pressure. After a superb 4 goal first half, Nelson succumbed to a health issue. We wish him well on his road to recovery.
The Reserves jumped Jervois to finish comfortable winners by 55 points. Best players were Dazza, Sam, Polky, Keedan and Buttsy. After starting the year with a 1-2 win/loss record, our Bs have aced their last 9 games to leap into top spot. On current form, they look every chance to repeat their success from last season.
Both 17s and 15s dominated their opponents to win by over 20 goals each. Best players for the 17s were Jacob, Jack Lewis, Jack Joy, Tyson and Brandon. For the 15s, our best performed were Brayden, Callum, Daniel, Jack Howell and Jake. Both teams are currently sitting in 5th place but need to keep winning to stay in the finals race.
This week's game against Imperials is for the Cawte/ Norrish Cup. It is also the Reunion Weekend for the 1975 League & Reserves, 1985 League plus 1995 Reserves Premierships. Refer to the Coming Events page for detailed information about the activities planned.

It was a day of mixed results at Tigerland last Saturday. Games throughout the day were close and competitive. The League side went into their game having made a number of player changes. After allowing Mypolonga to jump out to an early advantage, Ramblers made a charge late in the game but fell 11 points short at the final siren. Greeny and Thommo were our standouts along with Tyreen, Wales and Nelson. The Duke bagged 3 goals in his 2nd game back.
The Reserves struggled to shake off a determined Mypo side. In a tight encounter, the Tigers closed to within 2 points early in the final quarter but Ramblers responded by kicking the last 4 goals of the game to walk away with a 27 point win. “Dasher” Darren Hein played a blinder. Also amongst our best were Sam, Keedan, Muffy and Butts (4 goals).
Under 17.5s backed up their win from the previous week with a well-deserved 8 point victory over their higher ranked opponent. Ramblers’ best in this game were Jyron, Jack, Brandon, Tom and Brayden. Jack and Tom each kicked 3 goals and Brayden kicked a pair.
The 15s were up against the undefeated ladder leader but didn’t allow Mypo to have it all their own way. Our boys finished the game full of running, outscoring Mypo by 3 goals to 1 in the final quarter. The margin at the finish was 40 points with Jack Lewis, Cameron Zadow, Brayden, Seth and Jayden all getting the votes in this game.

It was a cold, wet, Wintery day last Saturday for our clash against Tailem Bend. Ramblers overcame the trying conditions to take the win in the League game by 13 points. Stepping up into the A’s for his League debut was Jacob Trevorrow and he made an immediate impact, kicking 2 goals and finishing amongst the best players. Greeny played a solid game and was supported by Wales, Liam and Riley. Congratulations also to Mitch Vanson in compiling his 100th senior game for the club.
The Reserves team continued on their winning way, recording a 56 point victory. These guys are playing some great footy with many players pushing for League selection. Twin towers Alex and Tyson each kicked 3 goals. Good contributors were Cam, Kerls, Neil, Elph and Tyson.
Our 17’s blew away their opposition, having 39 scoring shots to 6 and finished with an emphatic 93 point win. Jack Joy had another 5 goal haul, with Khian, Tom and Brooksy all adding 3 goals each. Rambler’s best players were Tom, Khian, Jack Joy, Brooksy and Peter.
The Under 15’s also played a great game, defeating Tailem Bend by 92 points. Griffin was the leading goalkicker for the game with 5 goals. It was a complete team effort with Kez, Daniel, Griffin, Seth and Callum being the standouts.
Best wishes go to Stuart Green and Liam O’Neil on their selections in the SA Country squad.

After an extended break, it’s important that we now focus on putting some wins on the board from this Saturday as we look to lock in a finals berth in the A’s.
In our last League game, we went into half-time on level terms with Imperials. In the 3rd quarter, the Blues kicked away to a 4 goal break and held this through until the final siren to score a 25 point win. Ben Gogel bagged 4 goals, with our best players being Greeny, Lloyd, Liam, Will and Ty.
The Ressies ran all over their opponent from the start, putting 10 goals on the board before Imperials could score their first major. Coach Randall was very pleased with the 74 point victory. Alex Button was a welcome addition to the side with 7 goals off his own boot. Tyson also added 3 goals. It was a great team effort but special mentions go to Buttsy, Neily, Riley, Kerls and Webby. With Imperials having the bye this week, a good result will have us sitting on top of the Reserves table at the end of this round.
The 17’s got away to a promising start but were over-run late in the game to go down by a solitary point. Our best five were Tyson, Jonathon, Mathew, Jyron and Jack.
Junior Colts were also competitive, going into the final quarter just 11 points in arrears. Imperials however kicked the only 3 goals scored in the last quarter to record a 28 point win. Best players for Ramblers were Seth, Daniel and Jack Lewis.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped out at LeMessurier Oval last Sunday week when Ramblers hosted the River Murray versus Hills League junior interleague matches.
Congratulations go to Liam O’Neil and Stuart Green who have been chosen in the SA Country Squad. Former Rambler Mark “Rumbles” Rumbelow was also selected. The team will be finalised in readiness for a game to be played in Perth in several weeks.
I wish to acknowledge the many wonderful and generous sponsors we have at Ramblers. Their names are listed on the Sponsors Board in the clubrooms, around the oval and are displayed on this website. All players and supporters are encouraged to return the favour by supporting these businesses wherever possible.
This Saturday we are away at Tailem Bend but meals and presentations will be on back at Ramblers afterwards. Next week we are away to Mypolonga but will have our Rooster Airways Flight Night back at the Clubrooms later. Check-in is at 7.00pm. Tickets are still available at $30.00 each so come along and enjoy the evening. Contact Jarrad Weyland for any further information about this event.

Our congratulations to the Rambler players selected for the Murray South East Zone training squad. We have 5 players included: Liam O’Neil, Alex Pfeiffer, Alfie Gollan, Ben Gogel and Stuart Green. A final team will be announced for the SA Country Football Championships to be held in Port Augusta on July 4th and 5th.
Former Rambler premiership players Ryan Morris and Luke Button are taking part in the Hill’s Heroes bike ride from Barooga (NSW) to Adelaide. The ride will be held between 5th and 11th of July. This event is a fundraiser for BeyondBlue to raise awareness of depression. More information about the event is available at the link here. We wish them well in their travels.
Added 18/06/2015:
We move into the second half of the minor round with our A’s having a 3 and 5 win/loss record. The task doesn’t get any easier this week as we face Imperials who have won at their last 6 starts.
In last week’s game, the League side went down to Mannum by 43 points. The incentive of a win for Jarrad Weyland’s 200th League game wasn’t enough to inspire us on to victory. Best for the Reds were Ty, Jarrad, Liam, Pratty and Brandon.
The Reserves have continued on their winning way with a 47 point win. Tyson provided a focal point up forward and scored 4 goals. Jacob, Will, Riley, Paul Hein and Neil all played well.
Both of our Colts teams tried hard but didn’t have the firepower needed to get over the Roos. In both games, Ramblers started slowly but outscored their opponents in the last quarters. The Under 17’s had an 84 point loss and the Under 15’s succumbed by 6 goals.
Our annual Rump and Red Dinner will be on this Saturday in the clubrooms from 6.30pm. The meat has been provided by Thomas Foods and a selection of reds have been supplied through Katnook Estate and Shaw Family Vintners. The talented Joshy Willo will keep us entertained. A $5.00 cover charge applies.
Other events planned for the coming weeks are:
Flight Night - 18th July
Goods and Services Auction - 25 July
Family Feud - 8 August.
Make sure these dates are in your calendar.

We faced reigning premiers Meningie at Le Messurier Oval in our last game. After being belted by 67 points at our previous meeting, it was important that we stood up and showed how we have progressed since the start of the season. The task was made somewhat harder, losing both Brad Hartman and Sam Pfeiffer pre-game due to their call-ups to the SANFL.
Meningie had too much fire power in this match with 39 scoring shots to 18. Despite losing the game we were able to restrict the damage to 31 points, a great improvement from the last time we met. Battling hard were J-Wey, Ty, Liam, Alex P and Fiegs.
The Ressies led at every change to record a 35 point victory. This was their 4th win on the trot and the team is growing in confidence each week. It keeps us well and truly in the hunt to defend last year’s crown. Will and Riley each kicked 3 goals and Hurf contributed 2 goals. Our best players were Riley, Webby, Dutchy, Heiny and Neil.
Senior Colts came up against a strong Meningie side but were defeated by 83 points. Our boys did not give up, outscoring the Bears in the third term but couldn’t hold them for the entire game. Jyron, Peter, Jarrad, Jack and Brandon played serviceable games for Ramblers.
The Under 15’s fought out a good contest with Meningie. Scores were tied at three-quarter time but Meningie then kicked away to a 21 point victory. Our best players in this game were Brayden, Tyson, Connor and Daniel. Well done to Cameron Zadow who kicked 3 of our 5 goals.
We now have a week off due to the Queen’s Birthday weekend. The association game has been cancelled so it gives to all players an extra week to freshen up before our next game at Mannum. This will be a big match as it is Jarrad Weyland’s 200th League game for our club, a massive achievement.
Added 26/05/2015:
The League side came away with a comprehensive win of almost 14 goals in last week’s game against The Bluds. Brad Hartman presented well up forward and kicked truly for 8 goals, Sam Pfeiffer kicked 5 and Liam O’Neil 3 goals. These players were all amongst our best, along with Andy Angove and Michael Fiegert.
The B’s scored a 26 point win against a previously undefeated Jervois team. The win was set up in the first half where we built a 5 goal advantage. Buttsy put through 4 goals in his first game for the year. Riley, Polky, Elph, Heiny and Dean all played useful games.
Under 17’s had a morale-boosting 111 point win. Jack Joy continued his recent good form with 4 goals to take his season tally to 21. Mathew Brooks chipped in with 4 goals as well. Our best players in this game were Peter Tabe, Tom Paech, Brandon Thatcher, Jack Joy and Lucas Eve.
To complete the quadrella, Rambler Junior Colts pushed ahead to score a 14 point victory. Brayden Kartinyeri was our only multiple goal-kicker with 3 majors. Standout players were Mitch Pobke, Seth Catford, Cameron Zadow, Jonathon Oldenampsen and Brayden Kartinyeri.
It was an awesome effort by Heath Nankivell and his band of helpers with the President’s Ball last Saturday night. I’m sure all that attended will attest to the great atmosphere of the night and a good time was had by all.
Added 21/05/15:
What a great team effort by our boys in last week’s game against the Tigers. Although the League side was missing many first-choice players, we had contributors across the board to run away with a 39 point victory. Jars played a great captain’s game and was well backed up by Alfie, Andy, Liam and Brad.
The B’s were rampant in the first half, putting 7.7 on the board before Mypolonga could open their scoring. The intensity eased after half-time as we cruised to an 88 point win. Our best players were Sam, Jackson, Dutchy, Cam and Lambey. Major kicked our first 3 goals. Lambey, Kerls, Rory and Elph each scored 2 goals.
Senior Colts were just 10 points down at the long break but were then over-run to record a 38 point loss. Jack Joy had another great game, kicking 5 goals and was our best contributor. Others to do well were Jarrad, Jyron, Joardyn and Jackson.
Our Under 15’s took on an undefeated Mypolonga team who are stacked with talent. The stronger opponent quickly showed their dominance and took control of the game. Seth, Jackson, Jordon and both Mitchells all tried hard in a losing side.
The training squad for River Murray Football League’s interleague game against Hills Football League has been chosen and it includes 8 Rambler players. Congratulations to Liam O’Neil, Ben Gogel, Stuart Green, Sam Pfeiffer, Alex Pfeiffer, Matt Thompson, Jarrad Weyland and Brad Hartman. The squad of 48 will be trimmed in the week leading up to the game which will be played at Lobethal Oval on June 6.
The President’s Ball is on at the clubrooms this Saturday night from 7.30pm. Cost is $20.00 per person and the ticket price includes canapes, champagne cocktail on arrival and live DJ entertainment. Dress style is cocktail, with prizes for best dressed. Tickets are available from Heath Nankivell or at Murray Nankivell - 46 Bridge Street Murray Bridge. Enter the club via the red carpet at front so that photos can be taken.

This week’s game is against a Mypolonga team which is running red hot. We have a great rivalry with the Tigers so this is a good opportunity for us to take a win and get our season back on track.
For the first time in 2015, both of our senior sides were able to sing the club song after overcoming their Tailem Bend opponents. It was a much improved performance by the League side with many contributors including Ben Gogel who provided a target up forward with an 8-goal haul. Fiegs is justifying his selection in the League side by playing some great footy.
The Reserves team also returned to the winners list with a solid 39 point victory. Woodsy helped himself to 4 goals and Tyson contributed 3 goals to our total.
Under 17.5’s made a good start to the game before fading in the 2nd half to lose by 20 points. Brandon, Bradley, Joardyn and Jack were amongst our best players.
The Junior Colts easily accounted for Tailem Bend 62 to 21. Cameron was our best player, kicking 3 of our goals. Jonathon, Seth and Jackson provided good support in the win.
Thanks to everyone would made the “Pink Sports Day” such a success. The pink jumpers looked great on the day and these were auctioned off afterwards. The monies raised from the event will allow Breast Cancer Network Australia to continue their great work. A special thanks to the ladies for their support.

It has been an unfamiliar start to the season for our A’s with four rounds of football down and we are yet to put a win on the board. Coming off the bye this week, we have every chance to break the ice and score our first premiership points.
The ANZAC Day games were a great spectacle but did not produce the results we were seeking. Imperials secured wins in League, Reserves, Under 17.5 and Under 15 grades.
Ramblers started slowly in the League and Reserves games and this proved to be our undoing with the Blues cruising to easy wins in both of these matches.
The Colts games were much closer with our teams showing a lot of fight. The Senior Colts commenced the last quarter trailing by 26 points but were able to peg this back to just 10 points at the final siren. The Under 15’s also had a great last quarter, almost chasing down a 38 point deficit to fall short by 5 points. A superb effort guys.
On a sad note, we mourn the passing of Ian Reddaway, a former Rambler player and official. Ian was a member of the 1975 A grade premiership team and was involved with our club during the successful 70’s and 80’s era.
Another reminder is issued for payment of player subscriptions and memberships. Payment is required by this Saturday otherwise we must enforce the rule of suspending players until the fees are paid. Payments can be made to the Rambler Football Club bank account. This is with Westpac, BSB 035-069 and account number 760171. Record your name as the description on the payment.
This Saturday is Pink Sports Day so we expect to see a lot of pink to show your support of this great initiative. Our League team will wear a specially designed pink jumper and these will be auctioned off after the game.
Our annual Ladies Day will run in tandem. The marquee will be set up on the hill and we invite all ladies to join in. Cost is $40.00 per person. All details are on the flyer opposite.
Added 23/04/2015:
The Rambler Football & Netball Clubs are privileged to have been invited to participate in the ANZAC Day matches on this the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings. The ANZAC spirit will be in our hearts as we honour those who lost their lives in fighting for our country.
The League side will be eager to break their winless drought after having come up short in both games this year. Ramblers were not in the hunt against Mannum last week after conceding 10 goals to 2 in the first half before heavy rain washed away any reasonable prospects of a recovery. Best for Ramblers were Alex Pfeiffer, Nelson, Goges, Alfie & Thommo.
Our Reserves team have opened their account with a strong 68 point win after fighting off a determined Roos team. Harry put in a blinder with a best on ground performance and kicking 5 majors. Fiegs also had a strong game with 3 goals and Will contributed 2 goals. It was a good team effort but standouts were Harry, Fiegs, Dutchy, Dylan & Jake.
Both Colts teams went down in their games but are showing some good form so their next wins shouldn’t be far away. Senior Colts led by 2 points at half-time but were outscored in the second half to lose the match by 11 points. The Under 15’s also tried hard but were beaten by a better team on the day, the final margin being 28 points.
A reminder to players that 2015 subs must be paid in full by 09/05/2015 - Round 5. This is our game versus Tailem Bend. Payments can be made in person to Treasurer Shirley Schubert or by credit to the Rambler Football Club bank account. There are consequences for non payment and these will be strictly enforced.
It was great to have AFL legend Gavin Wanganeen leading our senior training tonight. A fantastic experience for all.

My apologies for an omission with the last update. The League leadership group for this year also includes Ben Gogel as Vice-Captain, continuing on from the 2014 season.
The first round of matches at Meningie did not quite go to plan. The League team had a tough task, coming up against last year’s Premier. After being within reach at three-quarter time, the Bears broke away to inflict an 11 goal defeat. Tyreen Gollan, Nelson Miller and Brandon Elphick all made their League debuts for Ramblers, each making the best player list. Alex Pfeiffer and Jarrad Weyland both made good contributions in a losing team.
The Reserves fought out a close game but went down by three points in a low scoring match. Rambler goal scorers were Keith Rigney with 2 goals, with a goal each to Tyson Matthews and Josh Heinjus. Ricky Wanganeen played a great first up game for our Club, along with Paul Hein, Jake Eve and Jacob Hurford.
The Senior Colts found the going tough against a talented Meningie unit. The 100 point margin didn’t reflect the effort put in by our team. Brandon, Seth, Jyron, James and Bradley were amongst our best. Jack Joy kicked 2 goals with singles to Nash and Mathew.
Buttsy’s Under 15’s were our shining light for the day, smashing Meningie by over 14 goals. Goal scoring was spread amongst 8 players. Our best players in the good first-up win were Seth, Brayden, Tyson, Cameron and Daniel.
Also performing well were the Under 13’s who came away with a resounding win in their game. There are promising signs for the future of our Club seeing these talented juniors coming through our ranks. Credit goes to Thommo and all those involved in our Junior program.
Missing from our last game was Sam Pfeiffer who was called up for the Adelaide Crows Reserves as a development player. Sam was amongst the best players in a losing side, with Crows going down by three points. Pfeiff has been selected for Crows Reserves again this round in a Friday night game.
Also unavailable for the Meningie game was Liam O’Neil, being selected for the Country team in the annual MAC Cup Country vs City game. Country came away with a powerful 96 point win. This game was played as a curtain raiser to the Port Adelaide vs Sydney AFL match.
Our first home game is this Saturday as we take on a new look Mannum side. Come along and cheer our guys on in what promises to be a good contest. Stay on afterwards for a few drinks, announcements and presentations followed by teas by the Catering Committee. The Calcutta (Players Auction) will follow.
Birthday wishes to our illustrious Treasurer, Shirley Schubert, as she joins the 60 Club this Saturday.

Only a couple more sleeps and we are into the 2015 football season. Issuing a reminder that all players 13 years and above need to be registered via the on-line registration process. There is a link on the home page of this website. If you need help with this, see any of the coaches, team managers or committee for assistance.
Congratulations to the captains and vice-captains who were recently selected for the coming season. The League team will again have co-captains. Jarrad Weyland and Sam Pfeiffer will share this honour. The vice-captains are Andy Angove and Stuart Green. The Reserves team will be led by Jacob Hurford as captain with Andrew “Dutchy” Holland taking on the vice-captaincy. All have been great servants of the club and thoroughly deserve their appointments.
The Colts will be running raffles at our home games and are seeking support by way of items or vouchers as prizes. If you are able to assist in any way, the support will be thoroughly appreciated. This will be an important part of the Junior fundraising which helps to put the teams on the park each week. Contact Tamara Pfeiffer from the Junior Committee for more information or to arrange collection of any items.
Player rosters have been compiled and these have been added to the website. It is important that if you are rostered, you keep to this commitment or arrange for someone to fill in for you. Penalties will apply for no-shows as this reflects poorly on the Club.
Nominations for the “Cockerel of the Year” award are now being accepted throughout the season. There will be weekly awards, culminating with the main award at the Senior Presentation Dinner. Pass on your nominations to Juergs.
The opening night of the 100 Club is Friday 10/04/2015. The Club will be open from 5.30pm. A meat tray raffle will be held and there are tickets still available for the 100 Club draws. First draw will be on at 6.30pm so come along and join in the fun. A light supper will be provided.

Training is now underway for Seniors, Under 17.5, Under 15 and Under 13 grades. For the little tackers in the lower grades, their trainings are due to recommence from Thursday April 9 at 4.30pm. As an incentive for new Colts players to the Club, subscription fees will be waived for the first year. As well as this, a cap will be provided free of charge. Contact Matt Thompson on 0430290347 for any new introductions or for more information about our Colts program.
Our special thanks go to the Altmann family for hosting Doc’s Challenge last Friday night. A great time was had by all with the usual superb food and plenty of liquid relief. We appreciate the help of the many volunteers in organising the course, manning the activity stations, cooking food and assisting in any way. There were sure to be a few sore spots the next day as the strenuous challenges were designed to push bodies to their limits.
The “Coming Events” section has been revised to include planned functions for the year. More information about each of these events will be provided as the Social Club Committee work out the arrangements for each function.
Ramblers are a part of the NAB Introducer Program for this year. The Club will receive a commission for any home, investment or business loans taken out by supporters. You must mention referral by Rambler Football Club at your first contact with NAB for our club to gain this benefit. There is no extra cost incurred for you in doing this but this program will see benefits for both players and club members as all funds raised will be invested back into the club through improved facilities and equipment. Speak to the President, Kym McFee, if you want more information about this promotion.

The countdown is on for the start of the 2015 RMFL season. Pre-season training is well underway as we move towards Round 1. Last weekend our Bow Hill training camp went ahead. Conditions were very testing with the bout of very hot weather. Our thanks go to the organisers, participants and everyone who helped out to make it a great few days.
Doc’s Challenge is on this Friday 27th February. All footballers and netballers are invited for what is expected to be another gruelling event. Predicted temperatures on this day are in the high 30’s so all participants need to ensure they drink plenty of fluids and take care of their health. We appreciate the hospitality of the Altmanns in hosting this activity which is now in its 9th year.
A couple of trial games have been arranged. On Saturday March 21 we take on Bridgewater in a game to be played at Kenilworth Oval. The following Saturday we welcome Langhorne Creek Football Club back to Le Messurier Oval for our last hit-out of the pre-season. More details for both trials will follow and check the boards in the change rooms.
There will be a change to the timing rules for the League grade for this season. Each quarter will consist of 22 minutes plus time-on, a reduction from the previous standard of 25 minutes plus time-on.
The Catering Committee is looking for assistance with some events we are hosting in the near future. On March 13th, Ramblers are hosting the RMFL Season Launch. We are seeking 4 waitresses for this night, start time 7.15pm. Black and white clothing is required. If you are able to help out, please phone Glennis Ongley on 0402117059 to advise your availability. Player’s wives, girlfriends and Colts' parents are most welcome to be involved.
We have a large function in our rooms on Saturday April 11th (this is Round 1 and we are playing at Meningie). The function is for the Lions Club and visitors will be attending from across the state. Help is needed with several tasks. Firstly on the night before, help will be needed to put out tables and set up the hall. Further assistance is required for the function itself on the Saturday night. We require 2 people to wash up, 3 people to help in the kitchen and 6 waitresses. As the League & Reserves supporters would not be back from the games at Meningie in time, help is sought from the Colts players and parents. This is a big night and very financially beneficial for our club so please offer your help where possible. Contact Glennis for further information and/or to notify her of your availability (phone 0402117059).

Congratulations to our Rambler Reserves team on taking out the 2014 Premiership. This is our first championship in this grade since 1995, so celebrations that night were quite lively. The team defeated Imperials who had been gunning for their sixth straight Reserves title. A great result guys. Neil Johnson was awarded the Reschke Medal as best afield in this game. Other great players for Ramblers were Muffy, Vanno, CG and Heiny.
Our other two Grand Final teams did not fare so well. The League team fell away in the second half of their game to record a disappointing 58 point loss to Meningie. We were best served by Ty, Brandon, Sam, Paddy & Liam.
In the Under 17.5 grade, it was a rematch of the Second Semi Final against Tailem Bend. Our lads could not repeat their efforts from that day and fell short on Grand Final Day by 27 points. Our best players were Jacob, Jarrad, Brandon Thatcher, Jake and Khian. Mitchel finished with 4 goals and Tyreen kicked 2 goals.
The Junior Presentation Night was held last Friday 26th September. This event was well supported and many attendees have acknowledged the high standard of the evening. A full list of award winners will be posted on the website soon. Winner of the Keith Dougall Award was Riley Vanson for his outstanding contributions to our Club. Photos from the evening are now up on the website. Our thanks to Gail Vanson for providing these.

Our congratulations to the Rambler netballers on winning Premierships for the Intermediates, Under 17’s and Under 15 Division 2 grades. A great effort girls. Three marvellous wins from the three Grand Finals we were involved in.
Our League, Reserves and Under 17.5 teams have all won their way through to this week’s football Grand Finals. This is the highest representation of any of the clubs. It shows the depth of talent in our ranks and of the strong position our Club is currently in. This is due in no small part to the tireless work of our committee members as well as our many match day volunteers and off-field support personnel who assist the players. We sincerely thank you all for your commitment to Ramblers.
Our sponsors also play a vital role with our Club. We encourage everyone to continue to support those who support us. We look to our sponsors' continued involvement into the future.
Let’s get out in force this Saturday at Jervois Oval and cheer our teams on to victory. Join us back at the Clubrooms after the games - win, lose or draw, where we hope to have some silverware to show and get loud about. Ensure that you plan ahead to make the right choices for getting home safely afterwards.
