This Saturday against Robe, Mark Teagle will play his 300th senior game for Mt Burr.
Having made his senior debut in 1999 he will become just the tenth Mt Burr player to reach this milestone since the club began keeping records in 1976.
"Teags" first began playing Junior Colts for Mt Burr in 1993, and he became captain in his final year in that grade in 1997. This would be the first of his many leadership roles at the club, he would also captain the Under 17s in 2000, and later the B Grade from 2005 to 2008.
It was as B Grade Captain in 2007 that "Teags" played in his first premiership when Mt Burr defeated Nangwarry on their home ground by 2 points. Mark won the B Grade Best & Fairest awards in 2002, '06 and ’08, establishing himself as a hard-running mid fielder.
In 2010, under A Grade coach Mark Kruger, he was rewarded for his hard work by being promoted to the senior squad — a role he relished and that resulted in him playing in the 2010-11 A Grade premiership teams.
In 2014 Mark was awarded Life Membership of the Mt Burr United Football Club as recognition for his many years of on and off field service. In the last few years Mark has again played in the B Grade and although the team has struggled, he can still be found most weeks at the bottom of a pack.
Congratulations “Teags” on your entry into the exclusive 300 club!
